Scrap Pillows

November 1, 2012

Trick-or-treating was a success last night despite the rain. Maybe it’s all the social events that are part of October that’s affecting our schedule, but it’s been a trying couple of weeks  — K can’t seem to fall asleep before 11pm, which leads to much crotchetiness, whining and cajoling and all sorts of emotions. We have a very tired household…

I am thinking of sleep and rest, and that makes me think of pillows. I made these pillows out of scrap fabric left over from K’s clothes. Neutral, calming, a bit nautical. They make me want to lie down and drift off to dreamland…

I have a dress and possibly a coat to share with you tomorrow. Stay tuned!

The perfect post-Halloween post, pillows! How timely. 🙂 and they are, of course, lovely. Hope you and your family get caught up on your sleep soon!

Thanks guys! I think the key to an earlier bedtime is an even earlier wake-up time. I am so not a morning person and she obviously takes after me…

I just realized that this week marks 10 years sinc I just realized that this week marks 10 years since my first craft book Sewing Happiness was published. I’ve sewn literally thousands of garments and other textile projects in the last decade! I included a Sashiko primer in the book, and I’m delighted that this humble Japanese embroidery practice has stood the test of time - if anything, I’ve noticed that there’s an ever growing enthusiasm for hand stitching. Fun news: I’ll be teaching a virtual Sashiko workshop for @tatterbluelibrary on Thursday, April 30th at noon ET. Link in profile! Would love to see you there! 💙💙💙💙💙
