As part of my de-stressing initiative, I've decided to post clothes I've sewn for myself every other week instead of every week. I'm not above admitting that it just got...nutty. So, this week we're skipping an outfit, and talking about plans because that's what I do in January. Plan, plan, plan, make lists, plan, agonize over lists, plan. Above is one of the books I got for Christmas (thank you generous relatives - I purchased several Japanese sewing books with my holiday funds!) and I'm ... Read more
Monday Outfit: I see England, I see France…
I did it. I made underwear! In keeping with my own childhood tradition, I aimed to get at least one pair done for K before New Year's Eve (the idea being you'll greet the new year in fresh undies), but despite my best efforts, the orange and white stripey one was stitched up for New Year's night. It's an easy, comfy top and you just can't go ... Read more
Juggling Balls
So much for not posting daily. I was trying to cut myself some slack, but when I spent time thinking about this past year, I realized that one of my favorite parts of it was blogging. M told me the other day that for the last 18 months or so, I've been happier than he's ever seen me. We've been together nearly fifteen years, so that's saying a lot. There's something about this medium of visual and textual storytelling and community interchange that fits my temperament. This morning, I was ... Read more
2013 Recap: Sewing for K
Good morning! The end of 2013 is around the corner, so I've been looking back on all the clothes I've made for K this year, and I'm sort of flabbergasted with myself. Do I not have a life? I made a total of 129 items (!) for K. I'm trying something new and testing out the gallery function for the first time, which is a little funky since you have to click on the image, and then click on another link to get to the original post, but I like being able to see the monthly breakdowns this ...
