Some prep sketches for the book. I've been loving this handmade paper for its texture and I've been having a blast with all my watercolor/gouache paints. It's nose to the grindstone time (but in a good way), friends, so I best keep it short today. ********************************** K: You know, Mama...you're actually really, really funny even though most people would think you're totally boring if they just looked at you. Me: ...thank you? ********************************** Happy ... Read more
Me-Made-May 2014: Week 1
Well, I'm thrilled to say that I wore something handmade every day for the first week of May. Initially I had this grandiose scheme of sewing something new every week with each Me-Made-May recap, and then I came to my senses. What with deadlines galore, I had to aim significantly lower. Especially since I didn't anticipate how much time taking and editing daily photos of myself (ugh) would require. So here's what I'm shooting for this month: small alterations to ready-to-wear garments I ... Read more
Free Mother’s Day Printable

He slowly glided to and fro, sizing us up, as though we were auditioning for the role of potential owners. We were on our way out and I urged K and M to hurry, but K was riveted. I happened to have my camera on me, so I snapped a few photos, all the while saying, "C'mon, we have to go!" Oh, he was ... Read more
Monday Outfit: Rosy Knits
Let's face it. As much as I can't seem to stop sewing with linen, nine times out of ten, K will reach for the knits. I've long stopped feeling intimidated by the slinky, stretchy stuff, but I have to admit that it's not my favorite type of fabric to sew. But I get it. I reach for the comfy knits too, both store-bought and handmade (I'm only into day five of Me-Made-May and I've worn knits four times). So when K asked if I would make her a knit top with a giant honking bow where her boobs ... Read more
