STYLO!! I’m having serious impostor syndrome, friends — I did an awkward yet exuberant polka/hip hop dance move when Jess and Celina contacted me about contributing to their uber cool new online magazine and was gripped with both inspired elation and bone-quaking terror of letting this dynamic duo down. Issue 2 is hot off the press, and if you have any interest in kids’ fashion and sewing at all, you’re probably well aware of this fresh and stylish take the magazine offers for handmade clothes. The talent pool for Issue 1 and Issue 2 are daunting to say the least (hence the impostor syndrome).Β I mean, look at that cover! Helen of Curly Birds captured that perfect blend of unbridled joy and sassy impishness that is so natural to kids, all topped with a fabulous bow.
It’s like Christmas Eve for me, since I don’t know exactly what’s included in the issue yet as I type this, but I’m beyond excited to find out along with you! I’m devoting the next few days to talk about the outfits I sewed for the issue and will include some behind-the-scenes stuff along with outtakes (not that there was anything super juicy, but I’m always interested in reading about the nuts and bolts that go on beyond the photos).
For today, I leave you with my favorite photo from the photoshoot, which is also a bit of a teaser:
You won’t want to missΒ STYLO!

You are the sweetest, Ute! I was blown away when I saw the first issue and it was intimidating submitting my stuff, but so happy I was part of it! π

I am not at all surprised. You have amazing style and creativity.

This is so super exciting, Sanae! The first issue of Stylo was completely awe-inspiring, and now to have you (er, K) in the second issue . . . it’s better than Christmas!! Love the teaser photo – what a great color. And I’m also seeing why life has been so busy of late:)
sanae says
It is indeed the perfect shade of mint, Lucinda π Thanks for the enthusiastic response!! Yes, this was one of the projects that kept me busy. I can’t reveal a few other things in the pipeline yet, but I hope it will be fun news for all!!
Kristi Andres says
so fun! can’t wait to see it!
sanae says
Yay, I’m excited to see it too. There have been some technical snafus and it sound like Celina and Jess are working extra hard to get it up on their site. Fingers crossed that everything works out!
Marta says
Can’t wait to see what you have sewn, Sanae! Especially after seeing this photo…
sanae says
I’m thinking of getting that photo blown up, I love it so much. Thank you, Marta!!
Brienne says
Your spread is gorgeous Sanae. How/what was the polka dot backdrop?
sanae says
Thanks Brienne! The feelings are mutual, of course π The polka dot backdrop is a decorative wall in front the Pacific Northwest Ballet in the Seattle Center. It was so perfect, I couldn’t not take a photo there!
