Tofu Chocolate Pudding

March 19, 2013

This pudding required two ingredients. Two. And no cooking! Possibly the easiest dessert ever, and it's delicious to boot. K ate a whole bowlful and didn't even realize it was made with tofu. Not that she has any objection to soy products, but the point is that you would never know. If I hadn't made it, I wouldn't know. Except for maybe some of the white chunks that didn't get thoroughly blended...but no biggie. I used this recipe and though I wasn't able to pipe the pudding into ... Read more

Monday Outfit: Denim Skirt + Two Tops

March 18, 2013

Good morning, friends! I hope you had a fun St. Patrick's Day weekend. While the young'uns (meaning the college students and twenty-somethings prevalent in our neighborhood) frolicked in their rip-roaring ragers decked out in leprechaun hats, we quietly went about our business, wearing a little bit of green while drinking hot cocoa and reveling in the rare burst of sunshine. Happy Friday + Randomness

March 15, 2013

Happy Friday! Every day, K makes me laugh. I can't possibly record every single utterance, but these were my faves this week: K: I'm so into bugs right now. Me: Oh yeah? K: Yeah, I love books with pictures of bugs with information and all that stuff. Chapter books are so last season ago. ******************************************************************************** K: Mommy, I really want an asteroid. A fluffy one shaped like a ... Read more

Creativity in Small Bites

March 14, 2013

The other day, I stumbled upon an itty bitty shop in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Seattle. The storefront of The Aviary is so diminutive, you might miss it if you blink. It's attached to a hip and happening store called Blackbird, a very Merry Mishap kind of place. On the sandwich board for The Aviary, it said "A Creativity Shop", and in I went. I found a small, but thoughtfully-curated selection of pens, notebooks, art supplies, books and unique paraphernalia to "stimulate right ... Read more

Stilts Illustrations

March 13, 2013

Sometimes, it feels like I'm walking on stilts. A little wobbly, somewhat uncertain, viewing the world from a not-entirely normal perspective. Thrilling too - good things, I think, are afoot. These are illustrations I created a while ago. Digitally done, with scanned in origami paper overlays. They feel spring-like to me. What do you think? ... Read more
