Another Drygoods Class!

November 13, 2013

Friends, I'm so excited to be teaching another class at my favorite fabric store/sewing studio! This time, we're focusing on baby outfits, and I'm certain that everyone needs to make an adorable pinafore and pair of bloomers at some point. Right? I think these would make fabulous holiday gifts as well as gifts for expectant parents any time of the year. I think what's most thrilling for me is that these are adapted from Japanese patterns but modified heavily by me, so they are, in ... Read more

Her Own Recipe

November 12, 2013

There's only so much couch-sitting and reading a seven-year-old can handle, and during the many days K stayed home from her illness last week, she kept trying to come up with ways to entertain herself. Of course, I didn't want to make staying home from school too fun for her, or I knew I would suffer the consequences. One day she asked if we could bake something. Monday Outfit: Jammies

November 11, 2013

Thank you so much, everyone, for all the kind comments and emails! K is much better, though the coughing is still off and on. I'm still pretty loopy as well, but we've finally had one cough-free night which felt like manna from heaven. There's something about extra attention and affection that does a soul good, I think. As you can imagine, K spent a lot of time in her ... Read more

Energy + A little break

November 6, 2013

I recently had tea with a friend who is always inspirational. We were talking about how we make choices, especially when it comes to career decisions, and how she always asks herself, "Does this energize me?" I love that. We compared notes on various crossroads points in our lives, when we opted for choices that didn't seem to outwardly make sense but ended up being the best decision in the long run. I thought of how I moved out to Seattle to be with M - all my friends declared me ... Read more

The Easiest Bread

November 5, 2013

I have yet to try the life-changing bread again, but I took note of the link to a yummy-sounding bread that the always awesome Erin brought to my attention. I tucked it into my spacious memory (spacious because nothing stays in there for long) and went about my daily business. Then one day about a week ago, I had a hankering for homemade bread and hunted down that link. I've made it twice in the last week and have another one planned for today. Friends, this bread is absolutely delicious. ... Read more
