Happy Friday! These weeks are passing by relentlessly fast, and I’m starting to feel the holiday momentum starting to take over. I’d like to do a few easy holiday DIY crafts here on the blog, but I’ll have to see if I’m being way too ambitious. You know how I tend to do that.
On an unrelated note, I had this conversation with a friend the other day:
Friend: “I have your color!”
Me: “What? What does that mean?”
Friend: “I do this thing, this thing I’ve always done…I associate my good friends with certain colors. And today, I figured out yours!”
Me: “Really? Is it grey?”
Friend: “It is! But a very bluish-grey. Yes, a blue-grey.”
I think she hit it on the nail and I completely agree. I love that idea of associating people with particular hues. What would your color be?

Here’s a random illustration from my sketchbook this week. I’m trying to get back into the daily habit of drawing.

K is a professional flatterer and is forever complimenting me. I’ve become quite spoiled from all her loving sentiments, but sometimes, she says things like this:
“Mama, you know…you’re not very beautiful at night and when you wake up. Your hair is crazytown!”

Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend all!
Cool days, chilly nights
Need a slow-paced book to read*
and slumber away
*I was up way too late the other night finishing up this YA novel – so good! Now I want to read the sequel, but should probably read something less action-packed and geared toward teenagers if I want to snooze! Perhaps something by Thomas Pynchon…I’ve tried reading Gravity’s Rainbow multiple times and it always puts me to sleep.

What a great idea to associate colors with friends! You’re definitely gray blue. I see it.

I love the penguin drawing! So cute. My color something is probably turquoise, it has the energy of the ocean, but also the restfulness of the sea. And I think it draws people. This was a good exercise, thanks for some thought provoking-ness this morning! π

I dunno what color I’d be… I’m drawn to blues and turquoises., though. Love your daughters “crazytown” compliment. π

Of course you’re a blue/grey? Was there really any debate?:)
Your penguin illustration is adorable, oh you-of-many-talents. What a neat idea . . . a sketch a day. Maybe I need to introduce some sort of creative structure like that into my life, though for sure it wouldn’t be sketching:)
And your little K . . . she just must make you smile all day long. So glad you’re recording these great quotes of hers – they’re priceless!

I used to be red when I was a kid. Because my sister was blue, so it was already taken and somehow I had to be red. But I never really liked red! I love grey, too. A purplish-pinkish grey. Very soothing.
That novel sounds good! I love young adult (YA = young adult?!) and childrenΒ΄s literature. Have you read the books by Cornelia Funke with K yet? Dragonrider or Inkheart? They are so wonderful and full of magic and poetry.
Some unambitious holiday DIY would be greatly appreciated π
Have good weekend!

Kids eh? Gotta love their comments. Still, you can tell Miss K that I think her mama is very stylish and beautiful the rest of the time. Was going to say as much yesterday but it is impossible to leave comments on my phone – love that outfit!

I’m not sure if I could pick my own color, that may be something better left to an outside viewer looking in. I may choose a color such as sunshine yellow saying “I’m such a bright and cheery gal!” But, if you asked my husband he would probably decide you were nuts and instead I am a deep blue because I am always plotting and planning a new endeavor and being in great thought naturally seems deep blue. Who knows, I feel like my mood is such that it is always changing, and that maybe green would fit it better as all green plants go through changes and grow. I could spend all day ruminating this question and I’m sure as I sew I will be in my head thinking about it. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

I love your illustrations, they are so full of soul!!!. I’m always amazed (in a good way) on how kids can be so direct , it is fantastic. I’m not sure what could be my colour…I haven’t thought about it before, although some years ago I had a Kirlian camera reading and it result in an indigo colour image. Happy weekend for you and family!

Get well soon! A good recovery to you!

Blue grey is a pretty colour. I’m probably black grey on the outside and multicolour on the indisde π
