Oh...I have been felled. Hacked down by fever and chills and all sorts of maladies. It's been ominously building as I've felt sluggish for weeks, but this weekend, I succumbed. On Friday night, I went to bed at 7:30pm, and clocked in a productivity level of zero all weekend. There was no sewing. No baking. Or eating, really. No usual prep work that I do on Saturdays and Sundays. I missed a girl's night out that I was greatly looking forward to, and I had other grand plans. Bupkus. K and M ... Read more
Happy Friday + Randomness
Happy Friday! These weeks are passing by relentlessly fast, and I'm starting to feel the holiday momentum starting to take over. I'd like to do a few easy holiday DIY crafts here on the blog, but I'll have to see if I'm being way too ambitious. You know how I tend to do that. On an unrelated note, I had this conversation with a friend the other day: Friend: "I have your color!" Me: "What? What does that mean?" Sewing For Me: Cardi + Knit Infinity Scarf
Well, I have good news and bad news about this week's installment of Sewing for Me, though mostly good. The good: I love this knit cardi pattern. As the envelope promises, this is "sew simple". Even without a serger, it would be a very quick sew. More good: I love the versatility of this cardi. It can be ... Read more
Another Drygoods Class!
Friends, I'm so excited to be teaching another class at my favorite fabric store/sewing studio! This time, we're focusing on baby outfits, and I'm certain that everyone needs to make an adorable pinafore and pair of bloomers at some point. Right? I think these would make fabulous holiday gifts as well as gifts for expectant parents any time of the year. I think what's most thrilling for me is that these are adapted from Japanese patterns but modified heavily by me, so they are, in ... Read more
Her Own Recipe
There's only so much couch-sitting and reading a seven-year-old can handle, and during the many days K stayed home from her illness last week, she kept trying to come up with ways to entertain herself. Of course, I didn't want to make staying home from school too fun for her, or I knew I would suffer the consequences. One day she asked if we could bake something. "Sure," I said, getting ready to look up recipes. "No, I want to make up my own recipe," she stated firmly. And so she did. ... Read more
