Monday Outfit: Didn’t happen

sleeping-k

Oh…I have been felled. Hacked down by fever and chills and all sorts of maladies. It’s been ominously building as I’ve felt sluggish for weeks, but this weekend, I succumbed. On Friday night, I went to bed at 7:30pm, and clocked in a productivity level of zero all weekend. There was no sewing. No baking. Or eating, really. No usual prep work that I do on Saturdays and Sundays. I missed a girl’s night out that I was greatly looking forward to, and I had other grand plans. Bupkus.

K and M have been hovering over me like worried mother hens, and I have been staring at them balefully from my bed, croaking, “water…” But I am a creature of habit and felt compelled to write, and the distraction of trying to string together coherent words is a soothing balm. And speaking of soothing balms, this photo has nothing to do with anything, but baby pictures of K always cheer me up, so I’m popping one up here. I would love to sleep as soundly as K is doing in that image. Circa 2008. That slightly sinister looking doll is from M’s babyhood, circa 1974.

And I would feel remiss without including something handmade for Monday, so here’s another photo from around the same time. One of the first pairs of pants I ever made for K (in linen-blend of course) and my all-time favorite top made by my mom. Who is coming in less than a week, thank goodness.

I’ve discovered another benefit of having a blog. Apparently, I get really sick every year around this time, because I noticed this post. Good to know. Maybe I can take some preemptive measures next year…

Meanwhile, I’m drinking water and tea by the gallon-full and laying low. Postings may be sporadic this week, but I’ve been known to bounce back miraculously so I’m holding onto that thought.

  1. Feel better Sanae, we are feeling sick around here too. Must be the winter winds that I thought I would scape by moving to California!
I love this pictures of your lil’ one!
    Feel better to sew more!

    Happy week!

  2. Get better SOON! It’s going around, even hubs and myself came down with a nasty bug this weekend. How could you not smile from these adorable pictures of K?!
*sending sweet thoughts and healing vibes your way!*

  3. Glad to hear you are surrounded by such able caretakers! Get well soon and thank you for making my heart smile with K as sleeping beauty! Take care!

  4. I hope you feel better soon! That first photo of K is just beautiful. Children seem to get a porcelain doll-like expression when they sleep (even when they have been complete terrors moments before). I love watching my little girl sleep. Oh dear, that sounds creepy..

  5. oh no Sanae! So sorry the bug that seems to be going around has indeed paid a visit to your house, and to you specifically. How blessed you are to have such able and loving caretakers:) Extra Vitamin C and D? Glad the water intake is plentiful . . .
And the sweetness of baby K sleeping just about makes my heart ache . . . so I can’t even imagine how deeply it must touch you! Such a precious photo . . .
Hoping you feel MUCH better soon!

  6. Awww, feel better!! Love that sweet sleeping shot, my oldest had that same little gap dress, seeing it here just flooded me with memories of mine being that little. Can it really be that long ago?? Hope you bounce back sooner rather than later!

  7. Feel better Sanae! We’ve been battling colds and infections over here too. No fun when anyone is sick! Hope you are on the mend real soon! Love the flashback photos of K – so adorable!

  8. Thank you so much! I’m still pretty weak but after a dose of menthol-infused steams, I seem to be on the up and up….I hope!
