KCW Spring – Days 2 & 3

April 25, 2013

Finally! I have something to show you that I created during KCW week. I'm calling it the "Popsicle Outfit". Don't those stripes make you think of juicy, fruity, refreshing goodness? My intentions were to sew spring outfits for this round of KCW, and though I think these three pieces work very well for the season, they practically shout "summer!" to me. For those of you with an eagle eye, you'll see that K has no front teeth. She looks like she needs to be fitted for dentures...two ... Read more

Bits and Bobs

April 24, 2013

There is a lot of pattern cutting and sewing going on, but my partner in crime aka 'the model' has been a busy bee, which means very little photo ops. I should have something to share tomorrow though! In the meantime, I thought my fabric swatches looked pretty. These are the fabrics I've used/am planning on using for KCW, but things may change. I like to stay open to surprises. And hey, as long as I'm showing you bits and bobs, here is part of my collection of scissors (I own many, ... Read more

Fruit Smoothie

April 23, 2013

As a die-hard coffee drinker, sometimes I don't get quite enough of the other kinds of healthier liquids into my system. To remedy that, I've been making smoothies lately. I toss in whatever I have on hand - for this particular one, I used strawberries, frozen peaches, frozen blueberries, a banana, and a generous splash of coconut milk. On another occasion, I threw in some kale, which added pretty green flecks but no kale taste. Do you make smoothies? Is there a combination you ... Read more

Monday Outfit: KCW Spring Day 1

April 22, 2013

Good morning! Ah Monday...good-bye spring break, hello last stretch of the school year. I'm busily finishing up my spring cleaning (so, so close to being done!) and researching summer camps for K. So far she's rejected every idea, including Rock'n'Roll Camp for Girls, which sounds so cool that I can't believe she doesn't want to go. Turns out she's still a little too young anyway. I think the resistance to camps is because a bee stung her on the lips last year on the last day of summer camp. ... Read more

Happy Friday + Randomness

April 19, 2013

Happy Friday! Wow, the comments from the giveaway are giving me a serious case of wanderlust - so many beautiful, tantalizing descriptions and locales! They are also bringing back visceral memories of all the places I've traveled -- I was quite the adventuress in my youth. I inherited the traveling bug from my parents and they've carted me and my brothers around the globe several times over; and my mom's been traveling to Seattle to visit multiple times a year for the last seven years. I ... Read more
