Little Mittens

November 21, 2013

I finally slept through the night on Tuesday, so I cautiously approached my sewing table to see if I had the energy to make something yesterday. I've been missing sewing terribly. I rooted around and recalled that I'd been planning to sew K some mittens since it's been getting so cold lately and she's either lost or outgrown the ones she had. Enter Oliver + S and my trusty copy of Little Things To Sew. It seemed a manageable project for an undernourished, bronchial-challenged, ... Read more

Tea Party Treats (Two Very Good Recipes)

November 20, 2013

If I had a Native American name, it would be She-Who-Does-Not-Cease-To-Cough. No miracle bounce-back for me yet, but I am straining against my nature and resting a lot. The good news is that my appetite is back and I'm chowing down all the food groups and so far, they're staying where they should. Now that I can look at food again without gagging, I remembered that last week, K hosted a mini tea party for her best friend at our house. American Girl dolls included, naturally. I was their ... Monday Outfit: Didn’t happen

November 18, 2013

Oh...I have been felled. Hacked down by fever and chills and all sorts of maladies. It's been ominously building as I've felt sluggish for weeks, but this weekend, I succumbed. On Friday night, I went to bed at 7:30pm, and clocked in a productivity level of zero all weekend. There was no sewing. No baking. Or eating, really. No usual prep work that I do on Saturdays and Sundays. I missed a girl's night out that I was greatly looking forward to, and I had other grand plans. Bupkus. K and M ... Read more

Happy Friday + Randomness

November 15, 2013

Happy Friday! These weeks are passing by relentlessly fast, and I'm starting to feel the holiday momentum starting to take over. I'd like to do a few easy holiday DIY crafts here on the blog, but I'll have to see if I'm being way too ambitious. You know how I tend to do that. On an unrelated note, I had this conversation with a friend the other day: Friend: "I have your color!" Me: "What? What does that mean?" Friend: "I do this thing, this thing I've always done...I associate my ... Read more

Sewing For Me: Cardi + Knit Infinity Scarf

November 14, 2013

Well, I have good news and bad news about this week's installment of Sewing for Me, though mostly good. The good: I love this knit cardi pattern. As the envelope promises, this is "sew simple". I used my serger and had a completed project in my hot little hands in less than thirty minutes (once I cut out the pieces - that was a little trickier since the front pieces are ginormous). Even without a serger, it would be a very quick sew. More good: I love the versatility of this cardi. It can be ... Read more
