Happy Friday + Randomness

plants

Happy Friday! More digital painting fun: I got this visual dictionary of plants from the library and have been admiring the shapes of leaves. So many variations exist, and I love examining the details.

On the way to piano lessons yesterday:

Mama! I absolutely want to be a singer when I grow up no matter how much stage fright I get. I love it! Listen to this song I made up:

“We want to be wild and freeeeeee // Please don’t bother meeeeeee….”*

*one of the first songs that K composed which we think would be a runaway hit went something like this: “go away, go away, never, ever, come back…”. Judging from the lyrics, I wonder if she’s feeling oppressed?

Just a very short note today to wish you the loveliest weekend. Cheers!

Deadlines! Deadlines! Ack.
Why am I painting plant leaves?
Must get back to work

I think that song would be very popular amongst the middle school girls – kind’ve like their theme song:)

Best of luck with meeting all your deadlines Sanae! I think leaf painting is the perfect way to take a little breather from it all:)

Oh that song made me laugh! My daughter puts everything to music too so I can relate. Her first song when she was really little went: “Chicken and ham, chicken and ham. Bok Bok!” At least I don’t have to worry that she’ll be shocked one day when she finds out where her food comes from 😉

Ha, I love kid songs! K also had a riotous tune that had something to do with Love being poison that kills the heart…I swear, you’d think she was a brooding teenager from the songs she makes up!

Miss V loves to make little songs too! I love K’s song, at least it doesn’t say: “mommy shout me haaaard…” . x

Oh, that’s funny! K sings plenty of unflattering things about me — in fact, I think that go away song may have been directed at me…;-) Hope all is well, Maria!

The word that incites terror in most newbie sewing The word that incites terror in most newbie sewing enthusiasts: zippers. Now that I have a few years of sewing under my belt I’m less cowed by them, but there’s something about long, separating zippers that still makes me nervous. I powered through, however, and made this versatile twill hooded jacket originating from a @patterncouture_ zip-up hoodie pattern meant for knit fabrics that I modified a lot. I blogged about it! Link in bio if you’d like to see the different versions I created.

To skip zippers altogether and make a truly summery garment, swipe and check out my NEW @creativebug Tiered Dress class (link also in bio!). Back to sewing more hot weather stuff because I’m going to Japan for a special trip next week! 🇯🇵🇯🇵
