Happy Friday + Randomness

January 10, 2014

sanae-kcw-2014-winter1

Happy Friday! I’m guest posting over at the KCW blog again today, hooray! You’ll get a sneak peak of my winter sewing plans and I’ve featured some cute outfits I’d like to sew from a couple of new Japanese sewing books I got recently.

************************************************************

A conversation I had with K on the way to school yesterday…

K: When I grow up, I want to be an inventor.

Me: Oh yeah?

K: Yeah, I’m going to invent this cool brush with a tree on the end that has six branches! All you have to do is press a button and you can style your hair in different ways. There’s a branch for curling your hair, a branch for getting knots out…and the best branch makes your hair super fancy. Like George Washington’s*.

*As in, the first president of the United States. According to second graders, his hair is da bomb, yo.

************************************************************

Short and sweet today – I’m ready for the weekend! Wishing you a delightful one!!

I have a surprise
that I hope you’ll like next week
more details to come*

*Stay tuned! I’m being such a tease, I know, but it’s not quite ready and I’ll be working on it this weekend.

So much inspiration! Thank you. the Japanese designs are so lovely. On another topic (and back to one of my obsessions)… some good suggestions from Gluten Free Girl on the vegetarian cooking topic: http://glutenfreegirl.com/2014/01/favorite-cookbooks-2013-writers-version/#more-9055

Ooh, you are a wealth of vegetarian cooking resources, Gita! I’ve heard great things about GF girl and will definitely be checking this out. Thank you!

I checked out your post at KCW and the book looks great. I love the cardigan… do they have that in my size? I know you like Made by Wendy books so I was going to tell you I made myself some wine colored jeans yesterday (taking the legs in quite a big) from her book Sew U and they turned out super cute!! I even made my own take on a A-like design for the back pockets (since my last name starts with A) I stayed up last night hemming them and I’m going to wear them out today. So excited. I also have plans for the knit raglan sleeve tee to turn it into a cowl sweatshirt next. I got some adorable striped knit (the kind that looks like towel on the back) in cream and grey from Girl Charlee for it!! Let’s just say when the Girl Charlee package came there was a lot of squealing!!

I want that cardi in my size too. 🙂 Wine-colored jeans, how fun! You’re sewing up a storm, Kristi! I need to dip into those Built By Wendy books again…

I just finally realized that I usually sew up a storm for the kids, but their closets are FULL… so since I usually don’t know what to wear, it’s time! 🙂

Loved your KCW-post, especially the first few patterns look amazing! I started with a small KCW-list as well, but it’s growing… But before that week I have to make our little girl a dress for her first birthday 🙂

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Too funny! I never thought of George Washington as a hair-inspiration, but he does have an interesting way of styling his mane.

As far as presidential hairdo’s go I guess his is the most memorable!
I had hope for K with the inventor idea. 🙂 I guess once she’s nailed that hairstyling machine she’ll move onto a cure for cancer or something…
I’m out of season and overly busy for KCW but will look forward to seeing what you do.

We got her a microscope for Christmas so at the very least, I expect her to discover something microscopic to benefit humankind – not that we’re putting pressure on her or anything… 🙂 I’m going to try my best to keep my KCW output sane for this round!
