Happy Friday + Randomness

Happy, happy Friday! The other day K grabbed me and said “Mommy, Mommy, you have to come! Bumble and Slimey died and we’re having a funeral!” Apparently a poor bee and snail met an untimely demise (something about tripping and stepping – the details were fuzzy but they assured me it was all an accident). K and her friends had set up a little tombstone for each bug, and though it didn’t look like my illustration, that was what popped into my head. After an elaborate ceremony involving a plastic watering can, long drawn out and faux tear-filled soliloquies, we all intoned “We love you, Bumble and Slimey”. Then the kids scattered to go play. Ah, innocence.

Yesterday I finally got a chance to start catching up on my hundreds and hundreds of blogs I normally browse — I’ve been feeling terribly neglectful of my favorite pastime. I know I’ve been a slacker commenter, and because I’m well aware of the effort it takes to leave even a few words (am I the only one who has trouble adding comments with an ipad? I usually have to try multiple times), I can’t thank you enough for leaving such wonderful comments here – and I also appreciate the folks who don’t comment but take the time to visit. Google Analytics tells me that we may be a smidgen above secret society status, though I’m wondering if that’s just spammers because I get a disturbing amount of those, particularly in Japanese. Anyway, spammer or no, thank you!

I hope today’s been a lucky Friday for you and I wish you a lovely weekend, friends!

Hasta la vista
My schedule has been nuts-o
I need to slow down*…

*If I don’t watch it, I will end up like Bumble and Slimey up there.

Hi Sanae! I was thinking as I opened your post in my reader this morning how your words are a very welcome and calming element of my generally hectic mornings. I’m usually more of a lurker than a commenter but your post today made me rethink that, at least for the moment. So I don’t really have much to say, other than that I really enjoy your blog, your work is beautiful, and I hope you have a happy Friday as well. 🙂

Thank you for your lovely comment, Megan! After I published this, I belatedly realized that it might come across as trying to solicit comments, but I really just wanted to say a huge thanks for reading my yammerings 🙂

I’m normally one of your quiet visitors – but thought I’d say hi today, I always enjoy your posts, the beautiful things you sew, sweet stories from your life and your gorgeous illustrations! Happy Friday! Xxxx

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Beth! I love quiet visitors and vocal ones
alike! I think I’ve been so lucky to find this warm and supportive niche; otherwise blogging would make me feel like a crazy lady muttering to herself into a vast, cavernous and empty void. 🙂

Recent lurker piping up! I love your aesthetic, both with the items you choose to sew and with your photography. I don’t comment on blogs much, but please know that you’re appreciated!

Thanks for piping up, Alana! I’m terrible about commenting on blogs, so I am all the more appreciative of every comment I receive. 🙂

I really enjoy your blog, too! I love all your sewing and how you redo patterns to find the perfect fit… very helpful to see. And I was just thinking how hard it is to comment on an iPad, too.

Thank you, Sarah! The ipad is the worst for commenting, especially when there’s captcha (sp?)! I’m starting my third Tova and we’ll see how this one goes 🙂

They’ve added more dead snails to the graveyard which leads me to some disturbing conclusions. Fortunately, the accidental deaths have stopped…it’s been a great weekend so far, thanks Morgan!

I rarely leave comments because of my ipad, and because no one seems to notice or care on most blogs I visit. But I sure do enjoy seeing everyone’s creativity. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully soon I will start and finish more clothing projects.

May 5th is a very special day for me. Not only is May 5th is a very special day for me. Not only is it Japanese children’s day and Cinco de Mayo (a very big deal in Los Angeles where I grew up), it’s also the publication date of my very first book that I wrote and illustrated. Today, Little Kunoichi is 10 YEARS OLD!!! Crazy, crazy. This wee ninja girl completely changed my life. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 I’m pleased to report that a decade later I’m still in cahoots with @lbfbooks and we have a new book releasing this summer. Little K is back, albeit in a slightly different format…excited to share more soon!! 🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷
