Holiday Sewing Happiness Book Giveaway! [CLOSED]

And the giveaway goodness continues! Sasquatch Books and I are teaming up again this week to offer up two copies of Sewing Happiness as an end-of-the-year hurrah!

It’s hard to believe that over a year has passed since its publication. I’ve met SO many amazing people through the book and it was a labor of true, true love in collaboration with magical folks.

I’m keeping this post short and sweet since we’ve all got holiday festivities and preparations to attend to, yes? On top of a signed copy of the book, we’re adding a mini Sashiko sewing kit that includes 2 Sashiko needles, a spool of Sashiko thread and indigo cotton/linen fabric (I think? It might be cotton only, but it has a linen texture as well). The fabric is pre-cut and pre-quilted so you can make a Sashiko-embroidered coaster, similar to the trivet in the book.  I’m also throwing in a mostly-made heart-shaped  sachet that can be filled with lavender (or whatever you please) and closed up with just a few stitches. The fabric is one of my favorite Nani IRO designs.

(The embroidered pin cushion is just a prop and is not part of the kit — it was too cute not to include in the photo!)

It’s the usual to enter the giveaway: any comment will do! If you’re keen to share something specific, I’d love to know about a fun activity you’d like to do in 2018. A friend just told me she started taking Bollywood dancing lessons and that sounds awesome to me! Might give that a whirl…I’m also looking forward to going hiking more in the new year. Gotta take advantage of all this gorgeous and accessible nature in the Pacific Northwest!

The giveaway is open until Thursday, December 21st, and I’ll contact the two winners by the end of the day on Friday, December 22nd. I’ll also post this on IG (@sanaeishida) too if you’d like to enter there to increase your chances. Good luck!!

Please note: US residents only and the parcel will arrive after January 2nd.

  1. I started taking ballet lessons (after a 20 year hiatus) and would love to really get involved with that in 2018!

  2. I love this book. The health journey mirrored some of mine. I’m l arning machine embroidery this next year. Hoping to hike more as well.
Merry Christmas and happy sewing dreams.

  3. <3. I hope that next year will get better for everyone. I'll be focusing on continuing to learn how to take care of myself in a long-term sort of way.

  4. I’m thinking about joining a hunting club in 2018. I don’t hunt but they have some beautiful fishing lakes on there property that are well worth the cost of membership.

  5. I’ve taken your book out of the library at least 4 times. If I don’t win I’m definitely buying it for myself as a Christmas present

  6. I would love to have a more creative year ahead and welcome the chance to learn new things. Thanks for the opportunity!

  7. I’m also hoping to hike more in 2018, preferably with my recently adopted dog (once he’s ready to hit the trails as well)!

  8. I want to knit a sweater in 2018. I’ve knit lots of hats and scarves, but have been intimidated by the challenge of a sweater.

  9. I would love to own this sewing book. Not much fun planned for 2018 but open to receiving it! I have taken up meditation practice again and hope to include yoga along with it😍

  10. This sewing book was something I saw in my local library and I was instantly drawn to it! In fact! I’m making the dopp kits for my brothers for Christmas! In 2018 I want to focus more on mindfulness as well as sew my first garments. I started sewing this past March 2017 and have been intimidated by garment sewing, but I think it’s take the plunge!

  11. I love this book. I got it out of the library when I first learned how to sew. I need to start again in 2018.

  12. I’m going to celebrate the arrival of 2018 with a surf and enjoy sewing up a storm on my new sewing table with my lovely sister in law. She’s coming with my brother & nephew to have Christmas at the beach with me. At my invitation she’s bringing her sewing machine and overlocker. Whoo hoo to starting 2018 with surfing & sewing!!

  13. I’m entering my second year of sewing so I’m hoping to tackle some harder projects in 2018. Knits! Here I come!

  14. Hmmm, I haven’t even gotten to thinking about 2018 yet, I’m still stuck on 2017! Although I think it will be two-fold, one is to continue what I started in 2017: knit sweaters for me, start sewing for me and not just my daughter. The second is to try and find the mystery source of the water leak that is destroying the plaster in our house. We had a big push a few years ago, but obviously didn’t find the only source, so will have to start searching again.

  15. I’m still on the list for your book…!

In 2018 I’m going to join (form??) a weekly walking group.

  16. I just got my first serger, so I have big plans for a me-made wardrobe in 2018. Wishing you a wonderful holiday and a happy new year!

  17. I will go scuba diving in february. Is something I do with my husband and is a great way to work out. The best way is to go on a liveabord trip. You are on a boat and reach the dive sites. Every day you have 4 or 5 dives and the rhythm is really scuba-eat-sleep- repeat. I’m looking forward to it. Thank you for the giveaway, your book is really beautiful.

  18. This would be a fun book to have, thanks for the opportunity! 🙂 I have been doing adult ballet, but I’m going to try out tap this winter. Should be fun! 🙂
