A crafty little atelier in a grey city

Storybook Watercolors

August 6, 2012

*Alice in Wonderland* watercolor on board, 5″x5″

*Tsuruhime* watercolor on board, 5″x5″

*Red Riding Hood* watercolor on board, 5″x5″

I created these little paintings for an art show, but was weirdly attached to them and didn’t want to sell ’em. They combine my love of all things tiny with the concept of paper dolls.

Such a neat idea. I love the little frames around them. I’d love to see these as real paper dolls! Or a giant exhibit, where each little vignette is larger in it’s own frame on a giant wall!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your loved ones! Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your loved ones! I’m spending time with family in the Midwest and there is much to be grateful for, not the least of which is the slower pace this week. Sending big hugs to you! 🧡🧡🧡🧡 Incidentally, this ikebana floral arrangement is one of the illustrations that didn’t make it into my book SHIBUI — I painted a lot of extra illos!
