A while ago, we had some kiddos over and decided to make chocolate covered marshmallows. I had whipped up a batch of marshmallows the night before using this recipe. As a general rule, I don't like store-bought marshmallows, but homemade ones? Divine. So fluffy and pillowy and cloud-like... So when you let a bunch of kids including toddlers go to town with marshmallows and melted chocolate chips, above is what you get. I can practically hear the tut-tutting of food bloggers en masse. Good Food
A couple of months ago, I talked about my newfound love of green juice. I'm happy to report that I've been imbibing chock-full of vitamins and nutrients in liquid form every day for the past seventy days, and I tell you, it's changed my life. I've even got M and K drinking the stuff, and we feel so much healthier. On the rare days I can't start off my day with a tall glass of green juice, I can tell a major difference in my mood and physical well-being. I've got a whole system down and keep a …
Backyard Art Camp – Wayne Thiebaud
Today, I'm jazzed to talk about art with kids! A while back, I was contacted by Jane of Buzzmills, and she invited me to participate in the awesome Backyard Art Camp series she is co-hosting with Melissa of A Happy Stitch. The idea is simple and brilliant: choose an artist, learn about said artist and work, then create a fun project inspired by the artist in some way with your kid(s). I was immediately in. And knew instantly who I wanted to feature: Wayne Thiebaud. Wayne Thiebaud is an …
Summer Goodness

K got this little snow cone maker along with three syrup flavors as a birthday gift from a friend and this has been a huge hit. It's such a good idea that I wanted to include it here as a reminder for future summer gifts (I've seen these on sale - the listed price on that link seems a touch high). The machine is quite …
Birthday Carrot Cake
It was an understated affair, M's birthday. He worked all day, and while he toiled, I made a carrot cake as requested. When he got home, we quietly lit the candles, sang a wildly off-key "Happy Birthday", and then M and I slipped out to dinner, leaving K in the able care of my mother. Like the celebration, it was an unassuming cake. It didn't rise much, and modestly turned golden in the oven, flecks of orange dotting it's surface. The recipe was from here, and is supposed to be a …
