Imaginary Sewing

May 11, 2016

I do this thing, this thing that often starts with a discovery of a new book (or two), usually of the Japanese variety. I flip through the pages and daydream and plan and think, "oooh, I'll make this top from this book..." "Or this comfy looking one from this book..." And before I know it, I'm carrying the books out of the store, my checking account slightly depleted, but my spirits buoyed. I scroll through my mental fabric stash inventory and gleefully anticipate wearing my new ... Indigo Prints Giveaway [CLOSED]

May 9, 2016

I know. I'm beating the indigo theme to a pulp, but what can I say? I love the color so much. Plus, that was my dominant hue of the book, which seemed like the ideal color to include with the Art Walk concept, etc. etc. Perhaps you share a love of indigo too? I had created these "samplers" as a reference for keeping track of which prints have sold (each square is an individual painting), but then several people wondered if I would sell the samplers as prints, and then I thought it might ... Happy Friday + Randomness

May 6, 2016

Happy Friday! I've been a bit obsessed with this new series of illustrations I created for the Art Walk at Drygoods (I'm typing this before the actual event so I don't know if anyone will end up showing up, but just having the chance to participate was awesome. Thank you, Keli!). Over the years of experimenting with different kinds of illustrations, I've decided that painting anthropomorphic animals is at the top of the favorites list. I mean, a foxy seamstress, a wise quilter, a ... Read more

Book Events!

May 4, 2016

One of my new goals is to do more book events. Not only do the events help promote the books to which I dedicated mega effort, they're great fun, and I'm challenging myself to get better at public speaking. I'm not a shy person, but my college speech class permanently scarred me, and I've avoided piping up in front of groups larger than two people whenever possible. I may have mentioned this before, but confronted with an audience, my physiology betrays me: sweaty palms and forehead, shaky ... Read more

Monday Outfit: Puperita Colleen Dress

May 2, 2016

Good morning!! It's good to be back! I have to warn you, though. I'm jumping the gun because the husband is still murmuring about adding another security measure or two, but I decided I just needed to get back into the blogging groove or I would lose all motivation and this little space would die a quiet, unacknowledged death. There's a small chance that the blog will go down again, but I think it's safe to proceed with caution. Later this week, I'll do a roundup of some fun things going on ... Read more

I’ve been swimming in nostalgia these past few day I’ve been swimming in nostalgia these past few days, wading through my blog and Pinterest board of the clothes I made for K, who is not so little anymore. what a wild, fun time that was! Remember the old school days of sewing blogs?? I’m back in deadline mode for a number of projects so sewing will have to be put on hold (though maybe I’ll get lucky and sneak in some stitching time). I’m also putting Instagram on hold for the summer, as I do every year. I’ll be back in September with some exciting updates! Have a lovely season, my friends! 💙💙💙💙💙💙
