A crafty little atelier in a grey city

A touch of spice

September 18, 2012

I am trying to broaden my culinary horizons, and as I flipped through my many cookbooks, I came across this recipe in this book, and I had a sudden craving for a sweet yet spicy cake. And that is exactly what I made. It got rave reviews from M, and I may have eaten several slices myself... ... Read more

“Young Adult” Books

September 17, 2012

This summer, I read The Floating Islands, a fantastic young adult book about cities that are buoyed in the air, tethered by magic and unfathomable technology. A little late to the game, perhaps, but I've been hooked on Downton Abbey these days. I'm still working my way through Season 1, and while I watch, I've been doodling some patterns. I'm currently working on a pink (of course) colorway with lace patterns as Mary tries to decide whether to marry Matthew...intrigue!   ... Read more

Shelter from the rain

September 12, 2012

It's starting to get chilly these days, and soon the famous Seattle rainy season will begin...with that theme in mind, here is one of my digital illustrations I created using origami textures. One of my favorites! I'm also submitting it for Illustration Friday, which I haven't done in eons... ... Read more
