On most days, I pin willy nilly to my pinterest boards, guided only by the visual sumptuousness of the images. One day I will embark on all the DIYs I've pinned, but for now, I am content with trying out a recipe or two a week. The one that caught my eye this week is the cherry, pistachio & coconut breakfast bars, but I made quite a few modifications to my version. For starters, I didn't use any cherries since I've overloaded on the fruit in Michigan so I'm avoiding them for the time ... Read more
Monday Outfit: Basic Shorts + Fluttery Tops
Good morning! Did you have a nice weekend? I have to confess that ever since my vacation, I've been having a hard time getting back into the groove of things. Maybe it's the gorgeous weather and plentiful activities, but I keep putting off sewing projects for, say, going out to dinner with a friend or checking out festivals. I was going to cheat and just post this top I made two years ago that I never talked about. It's cute, it still fits K, it's summer-appropriate. Then my crazy need to ... Read more
Happy Friday + Randomness
Happy Friday! What a week - it's been full throttle fun. Yesterday, we had a gathering of friends with an awesome spread of food to celebrate the Fourth of July. Happy Fourth of July to those of you here in the US! We're having a BBQ bash later this afternoon so things are a little hectic at chez Ishida, but I wanted to pop in with a quick update on my latest sewing venture. As part of my vacation wardrobe, I made a color-block maxi in grey and black recently, so it probably seems redundant to make another maxi in the same color combination. The thing is, I was all set on taking the color-block dress to the lake with me, and I wore it for a day as a ... Read more
Giveaway: Summery Fruit Fabric [CLOSED]
Last year, when we went to Michigan near Traverse City for the first time, I had no idea that it was the cherry capital of the Midwest. Cherries are used in everything: salsa, barbecue sauce, ice cream, wine, coffee...the list goes on. They even had cherry-flavored dog treats at the Cherry Republic where I couldn't resist a jar of cherry preserves. A few days ago, I had the best cherry pie I've ever tasted, and I'm not usually a big fan of cherry pies. Anyway, all these fruit-infused ... Read more
