Ba-chan Withdrawals

January 7, 2014

My mom left yesterday and we are downcast. Depressed, really. It was the longest visit at six weeks, and by the end of it, I couldn't remember what it was like not having my mom around. As always, she left in her wake three heartily-fed and slightly thicker-waisted folks, a smattering of flower-adorned purses, and several hand-knitted and upcycled sweaters. I've shown you the brown cardigan and hot pink top already, and today, I have a purple number she created in what seemed like minutes. And ... Read more

Monday Outfit: I see England, I see France…

January 6, 2014

I did it. I made underwear! In keeping with my own childhood tradition, I aimed to get at least one pair done for K before New Year's Eve (the idea being you'll greet the new year in fresh undies), but despite my best efforts, the orange and white stripey one was stitched up for New Year's night. Happy Friday + Randomness

January 3, 2014

Happy Friday! I'm guest posting over at the KCW blog today, hope you check it out. I had fun painting some illustrations and talking about color inspiration. As per usual, I had technical difficulties, but fingers crossed that it's all been sorted out. ***************************************************** Remember my tolerations post? I missed my pre-2014 deadline, but I spent time yesterday going through the house listing everything that belonged on my tolerations list. The list is ... Read more

2013 Recap: Sewing for Me

January 2, 2014

I wouldn't feel complete without rounding up all of my own handmade garments from 2013, so that's what I have for you today! My grey dress is still looking at me balefully from the sewing table, and at this point, who knows if it'll get done. But hey, I sewed a lot more for myself than I expected, and I ended the year with a grand total of 37 completed items. So let's jump in: MAY Total May items: 4 Most worn: Pink Stripes Knit Top. It's an easy, comfy top and you just can't go ... Read more

Happy New Year!

January 1, 2014

It's here! The new year! I'm a little sad to see 2013 go because despite some tough moments which are inevitable in life, it was so fabulous in innumerable ways. But I sense that 2014 may be even better. We rang in the year quietly with just the four of us: me, K, M and my mom (well, not too quietly since we live near one of the major fireworks site in Seattle), and it was a perfect way to end a rollicking twelve months. I have a propensity around this time to spend hours and hours reflecting ... Read more
