Fabric + Patterns Giveaway! [Closed]

May 26, 2014

giveaway-greenblueorange-and-patterns1

Good morning! I hope you had a restorative weekend, friends. I figured that because I’ve inundated you with photos of K these past couple of weeks, and because I felt the need to take a break from sewing pint-sized clothes while I work on my illustrations, today (and probably next Monday) I have a giveaway! I did a little de-stashing this weekend, and I’m hoping there might be some takers of quilting cotton and I’m throwing in a couple of Butterick patterns.

I like these fabrics just fine, but I seem to bypass them time and time again whenever I start a new sewing project so I felt sorry for them. They deserve a better home. The cute green floral is Katie Jump Rope by Denise Schmidt for Free Spirit, and the blue and orange cheerful one simply has “Anthology Fabrics” and some numbers on the selvage. 1.5 yards each.

I got these Butterick patterns at one of those JoAnn’s sales when K was about 3 or 4, and she’s now outgrown them. They are unused. Butterick 5458 (the party dress) is for sizes 2-3-4-5, and Butterick 4842 is a toddler’s “jumper” for sizes 4-5-6.

To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment with a podcast recommendation. I’ve been way into podcasts lately and love Stuff You Should Know, The Moth, Design Matters and After the Jump. I’m always on the hunt for more — humorous ones are especially appreciated! Or, if you’re not a podcasting sort, a show recommendation would be awesome too. I’ll watch pretty much anything from The Mindy Project to Breaking Bad. I’m a huge sci-fi fan too! International entries are welcome and I’ll keep the giveaway open until this Thursday, May 29th. Good luck!

I love New Girl ! It takes an episode or 2 to get really into it, but it is SO worth it ! Funny, sarcastic, and very recognisable. Schmidt is a hero, and the main character Jess played by Zoeey Deschanel (sister of Bones-actress Emily) is just the quirky nerdy teachertype everyone wants to know.Seriously: watch it !

Here’s a favourite of mine on a Sunday morning. All the way from Melbourne, Australia, an hour of wet, salty goodness. Radio marinara: all things fishy and oceanic

In a very Australian centric slant on humor: For podcasts, I loved TOFOP for awhile, made by 2 good friends talking crap while (possibly) being stoned. There are hundreds of episodes now so start at the beginning and expect to get lost… or lose interest. For non-podcast material, gentle comdey festival sort, try Adam Hills. And for not so gentle, do not watch where kids are present or if you can’t handle swearing comedy festival sort, try Jim Jeffries.

While not a podcast, my favourite thing to listen to at the moment is Global Breakfast Radio (http://www.globalbreakfastradio.com/). The site follows the sun west, picking up feeds from local radio stations around the world where breakfast is being eaten, streaming them for 10 minutes and then moving on. It’s fascinating!

I’m addicted to Ted Talks. They aren’t podcasts but rather speeches that stream from the website. So I keep my laptop in the sewing room and listen to Ted Talks for hours. They are short talks about any subject you could imagine, so I can’t recommend just one. But you can look them up by the subject list. Thanks for the chance to win this lovely fabric and the patterns! They are just the right size for my granddaughter. And thanks for your inspiring blog!

Have you seen Damages? I’ve really enjoyed it. All 5 seasons are on Netflix. Also Bored to Death for a semi-ridiculous comedy and Flight if the Concords if you want something completely ridiculous. 🙂
