Happy Friday! What a week! I’m pretty wiped out from sewing like a madwoman and cajoling a six-year-old to model constantly, but I also feel very satisfied with my efforts. I did miss doing my usual other creative pursuits though, particularly drawing/painting, writing and baking. I love to sew, but I find that baking and journal writing are the ultimate forms of stress release for me. I’m also a big walker. That’s a little illustration up there that I doodled – wishful thinking really, because I am not that slim (probably because of all the baking I do). I also don’t have bangs. So basically, that’s not an illustration of me. But that’s very much my style. You’ll usually find me wearing something stripey with my jeans cuffed (you know, super short legs). I want to get back into doing daily drawings again — have you seen this? Pure awesomeness!

K has been coming up with her own interpretations of words as of late…
1. Â A book accidentally falls on her foot:
OW. My sensible toe!!! Ow my toe is really sensible and it huuuuuuurts.
++++++++++++++++++++++
2. I hear K playing with the neighbor kids in our yard and suddenly she bursts into the house looking upset:
Mommy!!! They called me sassy! I am NOT sassy! Wait, am I sassy?
++++++++++++++++++++++
3. For a school assignment, she is reading aloud a book about history:
And then the soldiers carried knives and ruffles* to attack…
* I peeked at the book and the word was “rifles”.

Have a spectacular weekend, friends! It’s supposed to be 80 degrees here – I need to root around for some tank tops! Better yet, I should make some. And here’s a haiku to wrap up the week:

K cracks me up! Hmmm… you know, if the soldiers did carry ruffles at least they’ed die in style. YAY!!! You’re next on Belgium Style!!! I can’t wait to see.
P.S. It’s so nice to see what other hobbies people do other than sewing. I always love seeing your illustrations and your baking recipes always makes me hungry. 😉

Thanks lady! It’s nice to have other outlets, isn’t it? Your portrait mugs and plates are absolutely fabulous!

I love the mental picture of soldiers attacking with ruffles . . . a battle with style! Looking forward to seeing your Belgium Style creation:) Happy weekend of baking, sketching and maybe some walking (if it doesn’t get too hot!)

Your illustrations are great. Its nice to sometimes draw oneself as one wants to be than what one is, isn’t it. Looking forward to seeing your guest post. I didn’t know about the series, so will make sure to read the other stuff on there too!

Definitely check out the Belgian Style series, Asmita – so much coolness! And thanks for the illo love – it’s convenient to draw what’s in my head vs. reality (not that I’m huge or anything…just a little “husky” as I’ve been told) 🙂
