Hello, hello!
Exactly 12 months ago, this little book made its way into the world. And when I say world, it has turned out to be very literal — Shibui is now (or will soon be) available in 10 languages! So far I have received the Dutch, German and Thai versions, and it’s so fun to see the slightly different treatments in terms of cover layouts and sizes. Polish, Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Czech, Serbian, and Chinese are the other translations at this time. My mind is utterly blown.

I’ve been quiet here and everywhere else online, and this is mostly because I have another book in the works as well as a few illustration projects. I so appreciate having lovely and tangible assignments to focus upon while apocalyptic AI and economic fodder seems to be gaining momentum. I interject the sentence, “what a time to be alive,” all too frequently in conversation lately. Did I tell you that Anthropic used a couple of my sewing books to train their AI? Never in a million years could I have imagined typing that sentence. That’s a story for another time.
Today, I’m just popping in to say hello and to celebrate this milestone for Shibui. I hope you are well, my friends, and that you are enjoying this season (a gorgeous Pacific Northwestern autumn for me). More soon!
