Monday Outfit: Girly Dresses

April 15, 2013

Good morning! How was your weekend? We've been having a fantastic time with my mom, and also squeezed in some playdates and date nights. I went to see Trance with M, and though the plot twists hurt my head, I thought the movie was pretty good. We also had a hail storm! And power outage! Excitement all around. So I've been steadily working my way through the last few seasons of Project Runway (I'm currently watching All Stars Season 1), and I've been trying to push myself to try different ... Read more

Happy Friday + Randomness

April 12, 2013

Happy Friday! First of all, thank you so much for all the lovely, thoughtful and thought-provoking comments you left on my post about comparison and its thievish-ness. I loved them all and felt like the topic was a seed for future riveting conversations (hence the illustration - I used watercolor and it's from a while ago). ***************************************************************************** There have been a million hilarious conversations between my mom and K in just the last ... O Spring, O Ba-chan

April 11, 2013

Strange weather yesterday - pouring rain in the morning, a brief cameo appearance of magnificent sun and warmth, then back to rain. The last of the cherry blossoms in our yard look so festive. K wanted me to create a check-list in preparation yesterday. My daughter, so much like me. That's her writing in the top image and she also supplemented ... Read more

April 10, 2013

I've been thinking about these words by Theodore Roosevelt a lot lately, so I made a simple paper cut. I don't like to compete. Deep deep down, I'm sure I'm fiercely and frighteningly competitive and will claw my way to the top while gnashing my teeth and leaving detritus in my wake, if given the chance. But I clearly remember the day I consciously decided not to compare myself and not to compete if I could help it in any way. I was about eight or nine, and like many first-borns of ... Read more

Coconut Bread

April 9, 2013

When I made the granola last week, I ended up with a lot of extra shredded coconut. I tossed the bag into the fridge and yesterday morning, as I was rummaging for something that wasn't cheddar bunnies to put in K's lunch, I paused at the sight of so much coconut. I powered up my ipad and skimmed through my go-to cooking site (where the granola recipe originated as well), and voila, three posts in, a recipe for coconut bread! And I conveniently had all the ingredients in the house. It felt ... Read more
