A crafty little atelier in a grey city

Happy Friday + Giveaway Winner + Randomness

April 26, 2013

Happy Friday! I am so pleased to announce the winner of the fabric giveaway...congrats #54: the lovely miss Cate! She wrote, "My last holiday (and the first in about 10 years) was for 3 days in Melbourne alone with my husband. We left all our kids at home and walked and walked and walked around the city; talking, eating and doing a little fabric shopping. It was blissful." Sounds blissful to me too! I discovered that Cate makes beautiful clothes and posts them here and I especially love her ... Read more

Happy Friday + Randomness

April 19, 2013

Happy Friday! Wow, the comments from the giveaway are giving me a serious case of wanderlust - so many beautiful, tantalizing descriptions and locales! They are also bringing back visceral memories of all the places I've traveled -- I was quite the adventuress in my youth. I inherited the traveling bug from my parents and they've carted me and my brothers around the globe several times over; and my mom's been traveling to Seattle to visit multiple times a year for the last seven years. O Spring, O Ba-chan

April 11, 2013

Strange weather yesterday - pouring rain in the morning, a brief cameo appearance of magnificent sun and warmth, then back to rain. The last of the cherry blossoms in our yard look so festive. K and a friend picked wildflowers (and weeds) and I am in love with this little bouquet. Ba-chan ("grandma" in Japanese aka my mom) is here! K wanted me to create a check-list in preparation yesterday. My daughter, so much like me. That's her writing in the top image and she also supplemented ... Read more

On my mind…

April 10, 2013

I've been thinking about these words by Theodore Roosevelt a lot lately, so I made a simple paper cut. I don't like to compete. Deep deep down, I'm sure I'm fiercely and frighteningly competitive and will claw my way to the top while gnashing my teeth and leaving detritus in my wake, if given the chance. But I clearly remember the day I consciously decided not to compare myself and not to compete if I could help it in any way. I was about eight or nine, and like many first-borns of ... Read more

I’ve been spending less time around here — the I’ve been spending less time around here — the landscape has been feeling dark and murky and I wish I had a magical luminous flower like this bunny to light the way…#procreatewatercolorfun
