Sewing Pattern Organization + Sencha

May 9, 2013

A good while ago, I claimed that I was going to start sewing for myself again after a hiatus prompted by multiple failed attempts. I haven't made good on that claim, but look! My patterns are super organized. That binder houses all the non-kids patterns I've accumulated over the years. Rather, it houses the photocopies of the pattern envelopes and is my reference binder. There are Burda, Butterick, McCalls, New Look, Simplicity, Vogue and Colette patterns, and aside from the Colette ... Read more

Bits and Bobs

April 24, 2013

There is a lot of pattern cutting and sewing going on, but my partner in crime aka 'the model' has been a busy bee, which means very little photo ops. I should have something to share tomorrow though! In the meantime, I thought my fabric swatches looked pretty. These are the fabrics I've used/am planning on using for KCW, but things may change. I like to stay open to surprises. And hey, as long as I'm showing you bits and bobs, here is part of my collection of scissors (I own many, ... Read more

Japanese Sewing Book Series + Sewing Projects of Yore Part 2

March 20, 2013

You've probably heard the buzz. The delightful Miss Cherie of You and Mie is hosting her very first series and it's an awesome one: Japanese Book Sewing Series! Let's take a moment to coo at little Yuki's cuteness up there, shall we? Cherie has brought together a group of blogging ladies, including yours truly, familiar with the way of the "wa" (a pun that probably makes no sense at first glance; "Wa" means the "center" or the "fold" on Japanese pattern sheets and it also means ... Japanese Pattern Books – Part 1

February 28, 2013

So, I have a lot of Japanese pattern books. A lot. Today, I thought it might be fun to show you my library of beloved kids' pattern books (I also have a lot of pattern books for grown-ups...an intervention may be in order).  I've gotten quite a few requests for recommendations, and though I can't claim to be any sort of expert, I have sewn a fair amount from most of these and have my faves (which I've shared with you at the very bottom). I plan on doing a more elaborate review that ... Read more

When my daughter was a baby, oh, nearly two decade When my daughter was a baby, oh, nearly two decades ago, I read roughly a zillion board books to her. My favorites were Lucy Cousins’ Maisy series, Taro Gomi’s and anything with food. It’s with not a little awe and delight that I am creating my own baby board books these days. I adore my sumo books (I especially love seeing them in libraries), and I’m giddy with anticipation for GOOD NIGHT, NINJAS. Eight more weeks till publication! Preorder link is in bio 😊📘🥷I keep dreaming that these sumo and ninja baby books will become well-thumbed and beloved storytime staples…if you’ve been in the trenches of reading to babes and toddlers, do you have a favorite board book?
