I used to have a near-photographic memory, and it's one of the main things I miss from my younger days. I rarely had to write down anything and spelling bees were a snap. Then, around my early twenties, I started to forget. Little things here and there evaporated quietly and mysteriously, and I started to delve into all sorts of organizational and productivity systems. I tried the Franklin, the David Allen method, you name it. Nothing really stuck. Eventually, I settled on the age-old and simple ... Read more
Willow + Co Aster Cardigan
And we're back with the light grey walls. I'm a big fan of Vanessa's style and sewing. I'm an even bigger fan of her photography - she captures the light masterfully and her daughter is gorgeous and seems so sweet. I had the luxury of selecting a variety of patterns from the Willow & Co collection, and I definitely wanted to give the Aster Cardigan designed by Vanessa herself a whirl. If there's one thing I'm certain of this sewing community, it's this: there's a big love of collaboration. So my wish came true, resulting in some more awkward dancing. I also made K do a severely ... Read more
Me-Made-May 2014: Week 2
Half way there! It was significantly easier to reach for my handmade clothes this past week for Me-Made-May, though my choices are starting to dwindle (laundry is my achilles' heel). Through this exercise I'm experiencing a lot of revelations -- both good and bad -- and I plan on ruminating about them at the end of the month, but for today, I have a quick and dirty update to what I started calling my ham hock dress. Mutton chop arms are not my look of choice, so early yesterday morning, I ... Read more
