A crafty little atelier in a grey city

Monday Outfit: Le Chat Part 1

July 15, 2013

Good morning friends! How was your weekend? We've been basking in unbelievable weather and we're having my favorite kind of summer: very little scheduling, lots of impromptu social activities involving friends and outdoor activities. So it's KCW this week. I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do this time... The very first time I joined last fall, I just wanted to see what the buzz was all about and I was floored by the whole new world of kid sewing that opened up. Then for KCW ... Read more

Happy Friday + Randomness + Giveaway Winner

July 12, 2013

Happy Friday! Have I told you that pretty packaging makes me weak at the knees? I'm one of those annoying people who will decant detergent from its original ugly jug into a much more visually pleasing glass container. So yes, beautiful products and well-designed packaging will always captivate me. Sewing for Me: Ikat Knit Tank

July 11, 2013

I'm trying to ease up the pace around here. I have a tendency to overdo things, and my inclination was to create a post with four tank tops using various ikat prints from my stash. Stress is a four-letter word in our household. And really, who needs four ikat tank tops? So I ... Read more

Homes in a row

July 10, 2013

An illustration I made according to K's instructions. She wanted a row of houses/buildings all leading to a lake, and insisted upon an airplane in the air. I love a child's mind, with the leaps of logic, the whimsical ideas. I'm trying to paint and draw more - I've been sewing so much that I fear that I might be forgetting how to draw. Would you believe that in a week, this little blog will turn one? A whole year. I started it initially to create regular illustrations and general crafts, and ... Read more

Breakfast Bars

July 9, 2013

On most days, I pin willy nilly to my pinterest boards, guided only by the visual sumptuousness of the images. One day I will embark on all the DIYs I've pinned, but for now, I am content with trying out a recipe or two a week. The one that caught my eye this week is the cherry, pistachio & coconut breakfast bars, but I made quite a few modifications to my version. For starters, I didn't use any cherries since I've overloaded on the fruit in Michigan so I'm avoiding them for the time ... Read more
