Debbie’s Birthday Dress Blog Tour

August 11, 2013

Good morning! Did you have a restful weekend? K has 3-D Art camp this week, so I'm excited to get a bunch of projects underway while she's artistically entertained, but first, let's talk about sewpony's Debbie's Birthday Dress! It's my turn on the blog tour, and I tell you, I love this pattern! I don't know why, but I keep wanting to make this pattern in yellow fabrics. My first version was in a mustard linen. And the stripey DBD hack I sewed up included the brightest yellow ... Read more

Happy Friday + Randomness (+ giveaway winner!)

August 9, 2013

Happy Friday! It's been an amorphous sort of week. My mom is gone, leaving a massive creative trail of handmade things in her wake, and we are feeling listless and aimless since her departure. Plus, K had no scheduled activity whatsoever so we did a lot of lounging. The little art piece I did up there has nothing to do with anything, really, but I had forgotten that I made it until I was searching for another image in my archives, and thought it had a nice end-of-the-week vibe about it. ... Modified Washi: Wearable Muslin #2

August 8, 2013

I have to warn you that when it comes to sewing for myself, you're probably going to end up seeing the same patterns over and over. I've realized that I really need to work on understanding fit, and I figure this space is the perfect place to document my tweaks because otherwise it will all dribble away from my sieve-like brain. Though I'm afraid it might be somewhat unexciting for you as I go through iteration after iteration, I'm riveted by the whole process. I made quite a few changes to ... Read more

A couple of DIY party games

August 7, 2013

K's party had a loose water play theme, so I made these cute little spongeballs that I saw on Pinterest. I pin DIY projects like crazy, but I knew this one would be a snap to execute and would be economic and totally fun, so it was a must-try. I used this tutorial, which is excellent and I highly recommend it! These sponges absorbed a lot of water and the kids had a blast. Another game I made was requested specifically by the birthday girl. She wanted a "Pin the button on the dress" game, ... Read more

Hannah’s Wardrobe

August 6, 2013

As promised, here is a roundup of Hannah's new fashion items made by my mom. We have eight dresses...   Five knitted cuteness...(I'm not sure if that pink one is supposed to be a skirt or poncho, but it works as both!) Four bottoms... A purse, and goodness me, a swimsuit! That matches the one I made for K here! They all look lovely on Hannah, but this one is my favorite: And I've noticed that K likes to put her in this dress a lot, fully ... Read more
