Having gotten over my reluctance to sew the same patterns as everyone else with the Washi, I enthusiastically jumped into trying yet another highly-acclaimed and popular pattern: the Tova Top. There's so much to rave about this pattern. The pieces are superbly drafted, the instruction are very clear, and other than the inset portion which can get tricky at the corners, it's a very easy top to sew up. This has been on my to-sew list forever and I had high hopes of a perfect fit with little to ... Read more
Backyard Art Camp – Wayne Thiebaud
Today, I'm jazzed to talk about art with kids! A while back, I was contacted by Jane of Buzzmills, and she invited me to participate in the awesome Backyard Art Camp series she is co-hosting with Melissa of A Happy Stitch. The idea is simple and brilliant: choose an artist, learn about said artist and work, then create a fun project inspired by the artist in some way with your kid(s). I was immediately in. And knew instantly who I wanted to feature: Wayne Thiebaud. Wayne Thiebaud is an ... Read more
Stashaholic
This here is but a minuscule fraction of the fabric I have - my go-to linen and linen-blend stash. I wish it always looked this lovely... I spent a good part of last weekend trying to re-organize them into categories like "My Fall clothes", "K's Fall clothes", "Home Decor", etc. I have cotton, linen, voile, velvet, fleece, rayon, knits (so much knits), canvas, denim, corduroy, wool, muslin, silk, and all manners of blends and mystery fabrics. My sewing room usually looks more like ... Read more
Monday Outfit: Lilac Frills and Purple Sheep

Another one of K's great birthday gifts), outdoor eating... But let's talk about this week's outfit. I had something else in mind initially and even had the patterns all traced and cut out, ready to go. As I sifted through ... Read more
Happy Friday + Randomness
Happy Friday, my lovely friends! I had hoped to be much more productive this week with K in camp (which has been so fantastic - art! glass museum and ceramics studio visits! 3-D movies!), but I've mysteriously frittered away time and now I'll be doing "Mama camp" at K's request for the remainder of summer. Postings might get spotty the next couple of weeks, but I will do my best to stick to my regular programming! Some exciting news: I'm teaching a sewing class! I like to call Keli, the owner ...
