Happy Friday + Randomness

Some of my favorite moments are when I am walking to or from school with K and having aimless, easy conversations. Yesterday, she squeezed my hand and said, “Remember? When my hands and feet were teeny tiny and my legs were so chubby and cute?” I squeezed back and nodded. “Look at me now,” she continued, “a mature second grader!”

I couldn’t agree more. The baby hand and foot castings above are from when K was four months old. My father-in-law was a children’s dentist before he retired, and he’s made these minuscule preserved memories of hands and feet from dental ceramic for all his grandkids. I love them, though they are mysteriously yellowing with age and can look a bit spooky in certain lights. On the plus side, they are perfect for Halloween.

I’m off to get my weekend started! I hope you have a lovely one, and I’ll see you back here next week!

KCW Fall
Will I join or will I not?
Hmmmm….I’m still not sure…..*

*Next week is such a crazy week for me, I don’t know if I can fully participate, but there will definitely be a Monday outfit!

  1. That is lovely story. My daughter and I have some similar conversations, and they always leave me with wonder.

By the way, on an unrelated note. that (from yesterday’s post) is an *amazing* dress. If I wasn’t convinced already that I want to buy a pattern you have made my desire to make it for myself even stronger.

    1. Oh, thank you Asmita! The pattern instructions for the dress/blouse are so well-written and I just love all the nifty sewing tricks built into them!

    1. K loves riding her bike too! Except the route to school has quite a few super busy streets which makes me nervous so I prefer to walk.

    1. You definitely need to get this done, Liza Jane, especially with a dentist in the family! I treasure these little reminders of just how itty bitty K was.
