There is a lot of pattern cutting and sewing going on, but my partner in crime aka ‘the model’ has been a busy bee, which means very little photo ops. I should have something to share tomorrow though!
In the meantime, I thought my fabric swatches looked pretty. These are the fabrics I’ve used/am planning on using for KCW, but things may change. I like to stay open to surprises.
And hey, as long as I’m showing you bits and bobs, here is part of my collection of scissors (I own many, many more). I have a thing for scissors…
These two are the ones I like to use the most:
And these are so lovely, I just like to have them out to make my sewing area look fancy:
Do you collect anything? I seem to have a weakness for things that look industrial and vintage…
I really like to have tons of scissors too, but mostly because I like them extra sharp& easy to find.
Mae
Same here, Mae! It always seems like I need a pair of scissors no matter where I am in the house…
I have the same bird embroidery scissors! Love your fabric swatches.
Thanks Kelli! Just used three more of the swatch fabrics
Ooo… lovely-lovely swatches! I’m curious to see what you make out of the eyelet.
There was so little of the eyelet, so my choices were limited, but I’m happy with what I ended up with – to be shown tomorrow!
Your scissors are lovely. I had the bird ones too, but they are lost somewhere in my embarrassingly messy study/sewing room. I completely understand the desire to collect things – I spent a holiday in Bali a couple of years ago trawling markets for enamel plates and thermoses to add to my collection – the Chinese ones that have roses painted on them. The locals thought I was insane, buying their old-fashioned cheap kitchenware instead of batik cloths and souvenirs, but I can’t wait to go back to Indonesia (no doubt Thailand and Vietnam would do fine, too) to get more!
I remember those thermoses from my Bali trip! I don’t remember the enamel plates though. What a fun collection! I read somewhere about collecting tea tins from around the world and I love that idea too!
love ’em.
Love that you love ’em, Asmita!
I’m really curious after seeing your swatches for KCW, I have seen the dress made with the scallop print fabric and was lovely!. I think at the moment my collectable pieces are yards of fabric, sort of an addiction.
Oh yes, the fabric collection. Completely in sync with you there, Maria!
I don’t collect scissors but after I read your post, I began to count scissors in my sewing room and happened that I own 9 pieces including pinking shears. I never realized that!
Isn’t funny how they seem to pop up everywhere? K has about a million kid scissors because we keep losing them, replace them and then find them again…
