Baby Steps

Good morning! I have been sewing in the background, but I’ve also been working on giving my blog a little face lift, figuring out how this whole etsy things works, and just attacking all the outstanding to-do items that have been haunting me for months and months.

I’m approaching it all with the baby steps mentality. I know I’ll never finish everything, but I decided to start by adding one more item to the startlingly slim offerings in my shop. I’ve learned that I’m not a big fan of fulfilling physical products so I’m testing out a digital download illustration package, and I’ll see where that takes me. I may give in and offer up physical prints in the near future if there’s enough demand. [In case you’re wondering, these are images I uploaded to my etsy shop – I’m not celebrating a birthday, per se – maybe someone reading this is having birthday festivities today. If so, Happy B-day!!!]

Do you like the cleaner, more streamlined blog design? I love it. It’s a template by Bloom Blog Shop (found via my friends at Besotted), and I’m still tweaking things, but I have to say that compared to other WordPress themes I’ve installed, this one was a piece of cake.

So thank you for your patience as I take itty bitty, wobbly steps toward getting all set up. More soon!

P.S. The winner of the giveaway is Andreia, congrats! Check out her gorgeous blog — I love everything she makes!!

  1. You are making it happen!! And starting with two of my most favorite projects–the bear on the bike and the pinafore. Congratulations!! You are finding your way.

  2. I like how your blog is looking! When faced with a new and scary task I often have a deer-in-the-headlights look. Taking baby steps is a grand idea! You’re doing great!

    1. Thank you, Melissa! I’m all about baby steps!! It’s too much to think of the whole project at once, I find.

    1. Thank you, Michelle! I always pay attention to whatever that receives a stamp of approval from you ladies! 😉 xoxo

  3. Hello Bear! He’s lovely!

That’s a very nice top, beautiful fabric, it looks lovely. I think you are game to be making from those pattern books. I have quite a few of them but know that I would need to make practice versions and then re-size them UPWARDS! One day, I’ll lose all this anti-depressant weight and start sewing again. Sigh.

    Congratulations Andreia!

    1. Thank you so much for the kind words, Jenny! And I hear you — for the longest time I kept putting off sewing for myself because I wanted be slimmer before I started. And it’s true that the Japanese sizing is ridiculously small so unless you’re built like Kate Moss, it’s going to take a lot of modifications. I think starting with knits really helped me get over the sewing hump, so to speak…more thoughts coming on body image + sewing!!

  4. Congrats on your Etsy endeavor! The Etsy community is lucky to have you. Love the new look too – so very you:)

    1. Thank you, Lucinda! I love the new blog design, not only because it’s more streamlined, but it’s also more technologically up-to-date with responsiveness and other features. It’s awesome! And etsy…I’m still getting my feet wet!
