Sewing Inspiration

February 27, 2013

I get inspiration for the clothes I sew for K all over the place: my Pinterest boards are out of control, I look through my Japanese pattern books all the time, and I seem to get about a dozen catalogs in the mail every week (Anthropologie, Mini Boden and JCrew get the most attention). And don't get me started on all the blogs! But I am most inspired by people I see in passing. I can barely remember what I cooked for dinner the night before, but I rarely forget outfits. I've ... 2012 Handmade Clothes Recap

December 28, 2012

Blue Sewing Machine Illustration by me (gouache + digital) With Christmas safely tucked behind us, I've been reflecting on the past year as we head into 2013. My favorite origami activity by far was making origami dolls, though. They typically look like this (the tutorial here is also nice), but I actually liked making just the kimono. I would try all sorts of pattern combinations, which could keep me entertained for hours. These make great bookmarks as well! I am starting to think about holiday gifts and a ... Read more

KCWC Day 1: leggings

October 8, 2012

We had such a hectic weekend! In our rush to get from good-bye party to playdate to a wedding in time (M was officiating!) I threw out the cord thingy to download pictures from my camera, and now it is nowhere to be found. Hence, there will be no photographic evidence of my KCWC participation until said cord is located...I'm easing in with a super easy pattern anyway: Figgy's Sunki leggings. I started late last night, and maybe twenty (thirty?) minutes and a cranky serger later, I had two ... Read more
