Look what came in the mail! My advance copies of Sewing Happiness!! As I'm sure I've mentioned before, that indigo you see on the spine is the fabric that my friend Rachel hand-dyed for the book (Rachel styled most of the book and did a spectacular job). The countdown has begun. Sewing Happiness launches on April 19th, and in the coming weeks, I'll be sharing tidbits about the book process (Furoku members got the full-on behind the scenes a couple months back, one of the fun parts of the ... SEWING HAPPINESS!!
As I type this, my book is getting printed. For all intents and purposes, the hardest parts of book #2 are done done done! From this point forward, it's mostly about refining, tweaking and updating. I'll do a final review of the book in its prettily designed and formatted state in September and/or October ... Read more

Happy Friday! I had such a lovely time yesterday at the University Book Store storytime. The staff was warm and welcoming, and a sweet group of toddlers and adults gathered around a circular kids' table as I read aloud Little Kunoichi. We followed up with a simple origami craft (samurai hats!) and I also created a little coloring sheet to go with the origami activity. This whole putting-a-book-out-in-the-world process continues to be surreal, and one of my favorite parts has been the charming, ... Read more
