Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

December 4, 2012

How is it that I am just now discovering this?? The timing is perfect because I was just going through my stash of fabric and books last night thinking, “Hmmm, I have waaay too much going on here…I wonder if I should do a giveaway?” Sew Mama Sew is hosting a HUGE giveaway event and I’m jumping on the bandwagon.

Without further ado, my first ever giveaway: a rather coveted, brand-spanking new copy of Heather Ross’s “Prints”. Chock full of ideas, patterns and an awesome tutorial on designing your own fabric. What’s not to love? Plus, I will include two beautiful pieces of Heather Ross Far Far Away fabric (1 yard each). They are a luscious cotton-linen blend that will knock your socks off if you’ve never experienced her fabric.

What to do: Please leave a comment with your favorite kind of crafting/creating. Are you passionate about sewing? Baking? Latch-hooking? I’d love to know!

When to do it by: The giveaway will be open until 5pm PST, Friday, December 7th. I will select a winner using a random generator on December 9th and email the lucky crafter (never done the random generator thing before…hope I don’t botch it up).

International shipping? Why yes, I will!

Good luck, and I hope you’ll have a look around my little blog — I myself am a wayward maker and can’t seem to decide on any one thing. You’ll also discover lots of other like-minded folks and wonderful blogs, so head on over to Sew Mama Sew to see!

***WINNER*******
Congrats to Jeana S.!

I mainly quilt. I just bought a crochet hook a few days ago and am going to give it a chance. Now that the kids are getting to be more manageable at doctor offices and such, I’d like to have a project I can work on while sitting around, so I thought I’d give crochet a try. 184. Katherine

    December 5, 2012 at 7:28 pm

I like to sew and read adn learn. Most nights, I combine both listening to classics on Librivox whiel my machine hums along. After a few false starts in my teens, including a awkward chicken print dress at 10 years old, I took up sewing with the birth of my 2nd daughter. I now have four precious daughters, 7 and below.

I finally had the courage to sew a christening gown for the fourth little blue-eyed doll.

And I am so thankful sewing gave me another chance. Though I have no creativity, I love using my hands to create beauty that blesses my children. It also helps me have something to physically hold during a season when most of my work is undone immediately.

This book looks fabulous. Thank you for sharing it with all of us strangers. 🙂

The word that incites terror in most newbie sewing The word that incites terror in most newbie sewing enthusiasts: zippers. Now that I have a few years of sewing under my belt I’m less cowed by them, but there’s something about long, separating zippers that still makes me nervous. I powered through, however, and made this versatile twill hooded jacket originating from a @patterncouture_ zip-up hoodie pattern meant for knit fabrics that I modified a lot. I blogged about it! Link in bio if you’d like to see the different versions I created.

To skip zippers altogether and make a truly summery garment, swipe and check out my NEW @creativebug Tiered Dress class (link also in bio!). Back to sewing more hot weather stuff because I’m going to Japan for a special trip next week! 🇯🇵🇯🇵
