I&#8217;m a big fan of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lbg-studio.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vanessa<\/a>&#8216;s style and sewing. I&#8217;m an even bigger fan of her photography &#8211; she captures the light masterfully and her daughter is gorgeous and seems so sweet.<\/p>\n<p>I had the luxury of selecting a variety of patterns from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.willowandcopatterns.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Willow &amp; Co<\/a> collection, and I definitely wanted to give the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.willowandcopatterns.com\/shop\/aster-cardigan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aster Cardigan<\/a> designed by Vanessa herself a whirl.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan6.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9943\" alt=\"aster-cardigan6\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan6.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1096\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan6.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan6-218x300.jpg 218w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan6-747x1024.jpg 747w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;d hoped, it came together in a New York minute (actually more like a Seattle minute, which is a little slower), and it&#8217;s my favorite kind of style: modern with a nod to vintage.<\/p>\n<p>I cut out the size 8, and in retrospect, I should have gone up one more size as this knit jersey was stubbornly un-stretchy. On the bonus side, it made sewing with it very easy. You might recognize this golden stripey fabric from this <a title=\"Monday Outfit: Indigo Pintucks + Mustard Stripes\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=6993\" target=\"_blank\">dress,<\/a>\u00a0 a perennial favorite around here.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9939\" alt=\"aster-cardigan2\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan2.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan2-207x300.jpg 207w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/aster-cardigan2-707x1024.jpg 707w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I cut out the sleeve cuffs incorrectly, so they&#8217;re not exactly matching, but I say it gives it character, and you probably didn&#8217;t even notice (see how I do that? It&#8217;s a sickness &#8212; I can&#8217;t help but point out what I did wrong).<\/p>\n<p>The only change I made to the pattern was that instead of folding the hem twice, I serged and just folded once to finish the bottom hem.
