To the question, &#8220;Just how many grey dresses do you need?&#8221; I respond, &#8220;You can never have too many grey dresses&#8221;. This is dress &#8220;q&#8221; from the book that I&#8217;m <a title=\"Dress Book Giveaway!\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=9371\">giving away<\/a> (there&#8217;s still time!), and it&#8217;s unusual in that it is fully-lined. Most Japanese patterns do away with linings for some reason, and it&#8217;s always been a mystery to me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9474\" alt=\"dress-q2\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q2.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"751\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q2-300x281.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the same charcoal chambray I used for my first\u00a0<a title=\"Sewing for Me: Tova 1.0\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=6011\">Tova<\/a>, and for this somewhat vintage-y dress, I cut the size 11 without any modifications. It looks pretty good from the front, right?\u00a0Love that pleat detail. Like the pleat, the subtle gathering of the sleeves surprised me.\u00a0The pleat and gathers really don&#8217;t show up much in the book&#8217;s photo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q7.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9479\" alt=\"dress-q7\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q7.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"1254\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q7.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q7-191x300.jpg 191w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q7-653x1024.jpg 653w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The front may look decent, but the back tells another story. I obviously need to add a few inches to widen the bodice, and I seriously thought K wouldn&#8217;t be able to pull the zipper up. Said zipper is straining mightily as you can see, and there&#8217;s a bit of digging happening under the armpits.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9475\" alt=\"dress-q3\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q3.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"839\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/dress-q3-286x300.jpg 286w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The tight bodice does keep everything tucked in nice and secure though. For almost two years, I have been diligently posting pretty much every week day, and I&#8217;ve been loving it. Sometimes, however, I think it&#8217;s important to take a break and I&#8217;m going to do just that. I&#8217;m taking all of next week off to spend spring break with K (M has to work all week) and to get going on my piling non-blog to-do list. I <em>have<\/em> been trying to sew for <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.kidsclothesweek.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">KCW<\/a> and I&#8217;ll share some outfits when I get back!<\/p>\n<p>Have a wonderful weekend and I&#8217;ll see you back here on the 21st, when I will announce the <a title=\"Dress Book Giveaway!\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=9371\" target=\"_blank\">giveaway <\/a>winners!
