Well, I lied. It wasn&#8217;t intentional, but it turns out I have <em>four<\/em> books for tots sewing, though two are so old and not at all like your typical, light-filled, airy Japanese sewing books that I hesitate to include them in the same genre. They were tucked way in the recesses of my craft bookshelf.<\/p>\n<p>But I have no excuse for forgetting about this one above (which had been hidden behind some books because it&#8217;s smaller in size). The Japanese Sewing Books blog did a lovely review of it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.japanesesewingbooks.com\/2012\/07\/13\/book-review-for-sweet-baby\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. And similarly, I bought it explicitly to make those adorable shoes back in 2008 when a bunch of my friends were pregnant, but I didn&#8217;t even crack open the book until two weeks ago when my sweet friend J was due to have her baby boy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/ticking-baby-shoes1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-7029\" title=\"ticking-baby-shoes1\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/ticking-baby-shoes1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/ticking-baby-shoes1.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/ticking-baby-shoes1-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was able to whip up these ticking stripe cuties and deliver them to J the day before her scheduled c-section. Whew.<\/p>\n<p>Too precious, right? It&#8217;s a great way to use up scrap fabric and though the straps were a bit of a bear to turn right side out, baby shoes are a very quick sew.
