We had a rip-roaring, thunderous storm yesterday and I almost got hit by lightning, so I&#8217;m feeling very grateful that I&#8217;m typing this post alive and well and without singed hair.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/olive-toned-tops5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6456\" title=\"olive-toned-tops5\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/olive-toned-tops5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"794\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/olive-toned-tops5.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/olive-toned-tops5-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/olive-toned-tops5-300x297.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I made a couple of tops for this week&#8217;s Monday Outfit and zeroed in on shades of green. Let&#8217;s talk about the oh-so-French inspired polka dot top first. Until I put the black buttons on, it looked remarkably like a mini-Tova (and the contrasting placket fabric is scrap left over from my first Tova <a title=\"Sewing for Me: Tova 1.0\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=6011\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). I briefly contemplated leaving it as is, but it would have gaped open too much even if there&#8217;s really nothing there to see.<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t have quite enough fabric, so I shortened the sleeves and added cuffs, making it look even more Tova-esque.
