We&#8217;ve had a relaxing one full of bike-riding and now we&#8217;re counting down the days until school starts on September 4th&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, this week I have a double-feature! Be warned, there are endless photos coming up. But first, let me back up a bit and start from the beginning. I know, that&#8217;s a lot going on.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">At first I was a little stumped because although I often make clothes for K that I want to wear myself, I&#8217;m not actually a fan of matchy matchy outfits for me and K. I wanted a similar silhouette for the two of us, and hit jackpot when I saw the tunic in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Simple-Modern-Sewing-Patterns-Favorite\/dp\/159668352X\" target=\"_blank\">Simple Modern Sewing<\/a>. I knew that there were virtually identical patterns for kids in my many books. Don&#8217;t let the muted hue of the fabric fool you, this linen is gorgeous. It&#8217;s striated with greens and blues and greys with marigold stripes and looks olive or blue-greyish depending on the light. Love love love.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/mini-me-style5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6070\" title=\"mini-me-style5\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/mini-me-style5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1012\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/mini-me-style5.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/mini-me-style5-237x300.jpg 237w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For K, I used a pattern from this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.jp\/gp\/product\/4529050696\/ref=s9_simh_gw_p14_d5_i2?pf_rd_m=AN1VRQENFRJN5&amp;pf_rd_s=center-5&amp;pf_rd_r=0VK1YSR4AAACBYQY8HK6&amp;pf_rd_t=101&amp;pf_rd_p=463376756&amp;pf_rd_i=489986\" target=\"_blank\">book<\/a>, and I kept the buttons the same on both tops (from my vast supply, compliments of my mom &#8211; the buttons are edged with metal around the holes, upping the cool factor. The devil is in the details, right?). Her fabric is a light red with the same marigold stripes, and the red is very close in color to this <a title=\"Monday Outfit: Basic Shorts + Fluttery Tops\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=5191\" target=\"_blank\">top<\/a> that I made a while ago. As you can see, I had some fabric left over so hey, why not make some coordinating infinity scarves? I love that they&#8217;re of the same spirit but not identical. I did make things harder for myself by hand-stitching the neck binding and sleeve cuffs for both tops, but I&#8217;m very proud of the neat finish. They&#8217;re comfortable, and though my version borders (as per usual) on maternity wear, I think with the scarf and boots, I can get away with it in cooler temps.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The photoshoot was tricky because I always try to keep K&#8217;s face cropped out and with our height difference, I had very few images to select from.
