I pin DIY projects like crazy, but I knew this one would be a snap to execute and would be economic and totally fun, so it was a must-try. I used this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thisheartofmineblog.com\/2011\/07\/13\/spongeballs\/\" target=\"_blank\">tutorial<\/a>, which is excellent and I highly recommend it! These sponges absorbed a lot of water and the kids had a blast.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/party-diy2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5711\" title=\"party-diy2\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/party-diy2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/party-diy2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/party-diy2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another game I made was requested specifically by the birthday girl. Bonus. I plan on putting it in a wooden frame.<\/p>\n<p>This was a very simple project and I used the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>24 inch x 24 inch sheet metal:\u00a0<\/strong>all hardware stores should carry this &#8211; mine cost $12<br \/>\n<strong>1 can of Chalkboard spray paint:<\/strong>\u00a0I used Rustoleum<br \/>\n<strong>Painter&#8217;s tape:<\/strong>\u00a0for safety &#8211; I didn&#8217;t want the kids to accidentally get hurt on the sharp edges of the metal sheet<br \/>\n<strong>Magnets:<\/strong> mine were from the Japanese dollar store <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daisojapan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daiso<\/a><br \/>\n<strong>Sharpie:<\/strong> to mark the button positions. I used a silver one<br \/>\n<strong>Fabric for the dress<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Spray metal sheet with Chalkboard paint. Two coats did the trick for me.<\/p>\n<p>2. Cover edges with painters tape. I also reinforced the corners &#8211; safety first!<\/p>\n<p>3. Cut out dress shape (I serged the edges and added lace &#8211; totally unnecessary steps) and mark button positions with Sharpie marker<\/p>\n<p>4. Attach dress to magnetic chalkboard with magnets (I used tiny ones I happen to have on my fridge)<\/p>\n<p>5.
