Last year, when we went to Michigan near Traverse City for the first time, I had no idea that it was the cherry capital of the Midwest. Cherries are used in everything: salsa, barbecue sauce, ice cream, wine, coffee…the list goes on. They even had cherry-flavored dog treats at the Cherry Republic<\/a> where I couldn’t resist a jar of cherry preserves.<\/p>\n

A few days ago, I had the best cherry pie I’ve ever tasted, and I’m not usually a big fan of cherry pies. Anyway, all these fruit-infused products reminded me of this fabric that’s been sitting in my stash and then I saw the apple+pear fabric and the fruit theme emerged.<\/p>\n

To be honest, I’m a little cherried-out. So rather than trying to figure out what to do with these sweet fabrics, I thought you might like them?<\/p>\n

The cherry print is Robert Kaufman’s Metro Market, and I have about a yard of it. The apples and pears have “Timeless Treasures” on the selvedge, but I can’t for the life of me remember where I got it. There’s at least a yard and a half, it looks like. They both appear to be quilting cotton but would make excellent pinafores, pillows, lunch bags – the options are limitless.<\/p>\n

To enter the giveaway, I was thinking about all the kid-friendly summertime activities we so enjoyed during our Michigan vacation. This reminded me of the quote from Joseph Campbell:\u00a0“What did you do as a child that made the hours pass like minutes? Herein lies the key to your worldly pursuits”<\/em>. Perhaps this generation of kids will all pursue ipad\/device-oriented careers, but when I was a kid, I lived largely in my imagination, drawing and writing and reading. What about you? What was your favorite childhood pastime?<\/p>\n
