At the very least she had to have been class president or something similar. Kristin exudes charisma and has an acumen for coming up with brilliant collaborations. She is a driving force behind <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/category\/sewing\/film-petit\/\" target=\"_blank\">Film Petit<\/a>\u00a0(Napoleon Dynamite is the most recent feature. Hilarious!) and <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2013\/05\/28\/vintage-may-roundup-and-features\/\" target=\"_blank\">Vintage May<\/a>, two of the coolest sewing series around. On top of her supreme prowess in all things sewing-related, she&#8217;s whip smart and is the friendliest gal, quick to show warm and encouraging support for newbie and veteran bloggers. Oh, she also has terrific <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2012\/11\/30\/house-tour-master-bedroom\/\" target=\"_blank\">decor chops<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Kristin creates fun and hip outfits for her littles <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2013\/06\/10\/best-of-summer-patterns-post\/\" target=\"_blank\">Em<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2013\/03\/20\/submarine-pullover\/\" target=\"_blank\">O<\/a>, and I think she guest blogs more than any blogger I know. I love that she&#8217;s venturing into <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2013\/05\/13\/vintage-may-flap-pocket-skirt-and-tutorial\/\" target=\"_blank\">sewing for herself<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2013\/04\/26\/scoop-top-free-pattern-and-tutorial\/\" target=\"_blank\">pattern-drafting<\/a> (I&#8217;ve already made two of her scoop tops and need to make more). Here&#8217;s Kristin, to talk about her faves&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>*********************************************************************<\/p>\n<p>Hello! \u00a0While Sanae is off enjoying some sunshine, I&#8217;m here sharing a few of my favorite handmade things with you. \u00a0And honestly, this was a super hard topic! \u00a0I like different things for different reasons, and my favorites tend to change on a regular basis. \u00a0So I decided to try to pick my daughter&#8217;s favorite thing I&#8217;ve made, my son&#8217;s favorite, and my favorite. \u00a0My husband&#8217;s favorite is as-yet unblogged! \u00a0It&#8217;s actually his Father&#8217;s Day gift, and I haven&#8217;t gotten a chance to get photos of it yet because he&#8217;s using it too much.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, here we go!<\/p>\n<p><strong>MY DAUGHTER&#8217;S FAVORITE: &#8220;Purple Wedding Dress&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View 'wedding dress' on Flickr.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/41868750@N08\/9096292473\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"wedding dress\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7441\/9096292473_0c12195930_z.jpg\" alt=\"wedding dress\" width=\"640\" height=\"455\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I made\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2012\/02\/16\/prp-week-6-old-new-borrowed-purple\/\" target=\"_blank\">this little dress<\/a>\u00a0for her as my &#8220;signature look&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.projectrunplay.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Project Run &amp; Play<\/a>\u00a0Season 3 in Winter 2012 (I was a contestant). \u00a0It&#8217;s self-designed, with a maxi-circle skirt which I dip-dyed purple for an ombre effect. \u00a0The fabric is an old (super soft) bedsheet. I made it &#8220;just for fun&#8221; because I had been voted out of the competition the week prior, but wanted to finish all 6 looks without spending amy more money on fabric.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View 'wedding dress' on Flickr.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/41868750@N08\/9098519256\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"wedding dress\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7298\/9098519256_b463e3532c_z.jpg\" alt=\"wedding dress\" width=\"457\" height=\"640\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My daughter didn&#8217;t wear it very much back when I made it, but last summer she suddenly decided she wanted to wear her &#8220;wedding dress&#8221; constantly, and she&#8217;s been wearing it ever since &#8211; out in public, for dress up, to bed, to climb trees. \u00a0When one of those tree climbing incidents resulted in her ripping the skirt, she hounded me relentlessly until I fixed it. \u00a0The purple is now faded and it&#8217;s about 3 or 4 inches shorter on her, but it&#8217;s still her most favorite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MY SON&#8217;S FAVORITE: \u00a0&#8220;Hockey Shirt&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View 'film petit: ferris bueller's day off' on Flickr.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/41868750@N08\/8432207994\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"film petit: ferris bueller's day off\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8227\/8432207994_1cc368f03d_z.jpg\" alt=\"film petit: ferris bueller's day off\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I made this little outfit as a part of an ongoing series my friend\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/alittlegray.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jessica<\/a>\u00a0and I host together, called\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/category\/sewing\/film-petit\/\" target=\"_blank\">film petit<\/a>, where we sew mini-versions of our favorite movies. \u00a0A few months back, we chose Ferris Bueller&#8217;s Day Off and I sewed the look of Ferris&#8217; best friend, Cameron &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/skirtastop.com\/2013\/01\/31\/film-petit-ferris-buellers-day-off\/\" target=\"_blank\">my post is here<\/a>. \u00a0Part of Cameron&#8217;s look is a Detroit Red Wings jersey. \u00a0The pattern is the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.blankslatepatterns.com\/products\/vintage-v-neck\" target=\"_blank\">Vintage V-neck<\/a>\u00a0by Blank Slate, and I pieced in contrast white stripes. \u00a0The logo is a hand-cut freezer paper stencil.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"View 'film petit: ferris bueller's day off' on Flickr.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/41868750@N08\/8432271800\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"film petit: ferris bueller's day off\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8188\/8432271800_ec2f5f697f_z.jpg\" alt=\"film petit: ferris bueller's day off\" width=\"640\" height=\"457\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The little guy wants to wear his &#8220;hockey shirt&#8221; all the time &#8211; almost as often as his store-bought &#8220;basketball shorts.&#8221; \u00a0We don&#8217;t even watch hockey as a family so I really didn&#8217;t think he&#8217;d care about it one way or another, you know?
