Good morning, friends! I hope you had a fun St. Patrick’s Day weekend. While the young’uns (meaning the college students and twenty-somethings prevalent in our neighborhood) frolicked in their rip-roaring ragers decked out in leprechaun hats, we quietly went about our business, wearing a little bit of green while drinking hot cocoa and reveling in the rare burst of sunshine.<\/p>\n

So. I’ve been trying to listen to K’s plea for bolder, brighter clothing and this week’s outfit is my attempt at that. This here is a Honey Honey by Kate Spain fabric<\/a> and is definitely bold and bright.<\/p>\n

I’ve been seeing a lot of bubble dresses on and offline lately, and because it’s been a good while since I made one<\/a>, I thought it would be fun to try a shirt version. The bubble shirt pattern is from this book<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Now the skirt…I LOVE this skirt. It’s Essex denim linen, of course, and Essex linen makes the world a better place, I’m convinced. I can’t remember where I got it from, but I stockpiled on the stuff because it’s beautiful. It’s a little darker than the denim I used for these pants<\/a>. Those gathered pockets are such a great detail, don’t you think? The best part is that this skirt took less than an hour to make. SO easy. The pattern is from this book<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As for the metallic linen hoodie, I have mixed feelings about this top. I love<\/em> this fabric. I used it for some of my art pieces and the texture, color, sheen and everything about it is gorgeous. I can’t find it online, but I got it from here<\/a>;\u00a0it looks like they are all sold out. I thought it would look like a chic, urban cool hoodie.<\/p>\n

I cut the fabric weeks and weeks ago and as I gazed at the beauteous fabric, I started to get a sneaking dread that it looked…70s tacky. Like a disco ball made out of pipe cleaners or maybe like the men on old TV shows who walked around wearing shiny shirt unbuttoned to reveal unruly chest hair. I have an aversion to tacky.<\/span><\/p>\n

I put it aside. And forgot about it. Then I saw <\/span>this<\/a> loveliness, and remembered the abandoned hoodie. I thought I would give it a shot, and I’m still on the fence about it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Especially when it looks like a Klingon<\/a> from the back.<\/p>\n

The pattern is from this\u00a0book<\/a>.\u00a0What do you think? Tacky or Urban Cool? K had no opinion either way. She just wanted to go play with friends and begged to be done with the photo shoot.<\/p>\n
