As a single-income family, tightening our financial belt is a necessity and I&#8217;ve been reviewing our expenditures. Food is a huge expense, and when I saw <a href=\"http:\/\/smithlive.blogspot.com\/2011\/12\/monthly-meal-planning.html\" target=\"_blank\">this<\/a> on Pinterest, I couldn&#8217;t believe that a family of six could eat on $350 per month. I was inspired and intimidated. That&#8217;s a <em>lot<\/em> of planning, friends. This woman should be running our country with that kind of organizational skills.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2712\" title=\"apple-cake3\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"648\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake3-300x243.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is somewhat connected to the apple cake I baked, because I figured that for what a slice would cost at a lovely bakery, I was able to make an entire cake. I&#8217;ve obviously fallen off the <a title=\"Quinoa Salad\" href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/?p=2444\" target=\"_blank\">less-sugar wagon<\/a>. And though I might be deficient in calorie-saving, I am proud of my penny-saving.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2714\" title=\"apple-cake5\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake5.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/apple-cake5-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hungiegungie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Erin<\/a> commented that Pink Lady apples are yummy some time ago and I had never tried them, but knew that you can always count on a pastry chef to steer you in the right direction when it comes to sweet things. I believe she called them &#8220;poor man&#8217;s honeycrisps&#8221; and being on the poor side of the socioeconomic hierarchy (though my fabric collection may make you think otherwise), they sounded right up my alley. I got several pounds&#8217; worth and loved them. That would be lovely.&#8221; The girl has never had apple cake, as far as I know, but I had to agree that it sounded awfully delicious. And yes, she really talks like that. My favorite apple tart <a href=\"http:\/\/orangette.blogspot.com\/2008\/10\/this-old-thing.html\" target=\"_blank\">recipe<\/a> is from <a href=\"http:\/\/orangette.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Orangette<\/a>, and I did a quick search to see if she had apple cake in her arsenal as well. <a href=\"http:\/\/orangette.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/calls-for-cake.html\" target=\"_blank\">Bingo<\/a>. Her description is spot-on, and because I used a sweeter apple, I reduced the sugar amount by a 1\/4 cup and it&#8217;s perfect. I can&#8217;t wait to have another slice for breakfast tomorrow.
