As a veteran journal-keeper, I have filled hundreds of notebooks over the years. Today, I thought I&#8217;d show you some different versions because I love to sneak a peek at people&#8217;s tools and supplies and thought you might too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2006\" title=\"journaling2\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling2-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is my current <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Graphic-Image-Wire-O-Notebook-9-Inches-JS9-Refill\/dp\/B004BK068G\" target=\"_blank\">notebook<\/a>. I&#8217;ve tried everything from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moleskineus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Moleskine<\/a> to high quality sketchbooks to super cheap drugstore <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mead.com\/meadstore\/mwv\/subcat\/Five-Star%AE\/Notebooks\/cat70006?pageName=catPage&amp;rootCatId=cat70004&amp;isSubCategory=true&amp;catId=cat70006&amp;isEqual=true&amp;parentId=cat70006&amp;gclid=CJTs-sumnrUCFcODQgodQQUAOQ\" target=\"_blank\">Mead<\/a>\u00a0ones (the tabbed variety that makes me think of elementary school), and I think I&#8217;ve finally found the holy grail of notebooks. The paper quality is excellent; thick without being annoyingly so and it comes with college-ruled pages, just right for my tiny writing. The pages are also edged with gold, which is at once classy and fun. And it&#8217;s spiral-bound, which is critical for me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2007\" title=\"journaling3\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling3-300x175.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I like to draw and sketch out ideas in my journals, especially with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sakuraofamerica.com\/Pen-Archival\" target=\"_blank\">Sakura Micron<\/a> pens. They&#8217;re the best! I also like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pentel.com\/store\/hybrid-technicatm-gel-pens\" target=\"_blank\">Pentel hybrids<\/a>. I can seriously geek out about pens, so I&#8217;m restraining myself tremendously by only writing these few sentences.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2008\" title=\"journaling4\" src=\"http:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"531\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling4.jpg 800w, https:\/\/sanaeishida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/journaling4-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I never made a proper baby book for K, but when she was a few months old, I started to keep an illustrated journal using watercolors (often penned late at night, when she would get up every half an hour &#8211; I may have been hallucinating half the time due to sleep deprivation). I still love to look through this now beaten up book, marveling at how quickly she developed those early months. I got the <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/paper-by-fiftythree\/id506003812?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">Paper app<\/a>, and a couple of stylus pens (I prefer the pink <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ten-One-Design-Sketch-stylus\/dp\/B002Q6GGZO\/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1360038774&amp;sr=8-2&amp;keywords=pogo+stylus\" target=\"_blank\">Pogo<\/a> one &#8211; it&#8217;s much more sensitive than the white\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Bamboo-CS100W-Stylus-iPad-White\/dp\/B005SXT6RW\/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1360038746&amp;sr=8-4&amp;keywords=bamboo+stylus\" target=\"_blank\">Bamboo<\/a>\u00a0one). I haven&#8217;t decided if I like it yet. Writing on a screen doesn&#8217;t come naturally to me, and I haven&#8217;t figured out the app enough to get the &#8220;undo&#8221; function working properly. I keep getting stray, unintended marks on my page.
