\nHello, hello!<\/p>\n

Last weekend, I quietly celebrated my fifty-fifth birthday. 55! What a milestone! Am I the only one who thinks the fifties are awesome? Not a chance, right? What a treat to have lived over half a century.<\/p>\n

I received the sweetest handmade gift(s) from K, which included a heartfelt card and Sashiko-embroidered bookmarks among other thoughtful things. That girl knows how to make her Mama tear up. But she\u2019s no longer a girl, really \u2014 \u00a0in a few weeks, she will have her own milestone birthday: 20! Two whole decades on planet earth. It seems impossible to me that my little nugget of a babe is now a full-grown adult. I was overcome by nostalgia when I perused my Pinterest board<\/a> with many of the outfits I sewed for her way back when. Little K was so much fun, and<\/em> she\u2019s turned into a lovely, kind young woman.<\/p>\n

We are in summer mode, basking in the beautiful Seattle weather and trying to avoid the World Cup madness (Seattle\u2019s first time hosting the event). Since we\u2019re not big soccer fans the hoopla feels somewhat remote, but I love that it\u2019s injected downtown with some much needed positive energy. For the last few years, the core of Seattle has been projecting a ghost town vibe.<\/p>\n

As always, I have ongoing projects. I\u2019m working on another book, and you know how happy that makes me. More on that soon-ish.<\/p>\n

I like to take the summer months off from Instagram every year and as I ramp up on book stuff, updates will become spotty over the next few months on this here blog as well. I\u2019ll have more to share in the fall, and in the meantime, I\u2019m going to revel in the start of my 55th year. Hope all is well with you, friends. Much love to you!<\/p>\n
