We\u2019re heading into May, and I am on the brink of finalizing some projects. But I am so slow, my friends. So, so slow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">I snapped this photo of my kindred spirit, and I watched it take its sweet old time for several minutes. \u201cWhat\u2019s the rush, love?\u201d It seemed to telepathically mind meld with me. What\u2019s the rush, indeed? One of the benefits of getting older is realizing that so few things are urgent and important.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">There\u2019s that quote I see on mugs and tea towels and cafe walls: <\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished.<\/i> <\/span><span class=\"s2\">Well-played, Lao Tzu (assuming the attribution is correct). Cal Newport\u2019s latest book, <\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>Slow Productivity<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s2\">, also emphasizes going at a \u201cnatural pace\u201d to get more meaningful things done without burnout. Big, big fan of Cal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">My natural pace is ultra molasses-esque these days, and I\u2019m okay with that. Somehow deadlines are met, meals are cooked and consumed, the needs of my resident overlord (aka my pet cat) are tended to. I suspect, however, that these blog updates may continue to be sporadic as I complete my next two books \u2014 more on those in the near future. For my projects, I have to keep mum <\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i>forever<\/i>. <\/span><span class=\"s2\">If I let it, it can be quite maddening. But again, what\u2019s the rush?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">This isn\u2019t really related, but one of K\u2019s dorm friends signs off the evening with \u201cGreat night, honey.\u201d I think that\u2019s so much more charming than your standard \u201cgood night.\u201d Maybe I\u2019ll adopt \u201cGreat day, honey\u201d in lieu of \u201chello.\u201d What do you think? Too saccharine? Too weird?
